2008 Montana Grizzlies Football Team
The 2008 Montana Grizzlies football team represented the University of Montana during the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Montana competed as a member of the Big Sky Conference and played their home games at the Washington–Grizzly Stadium. The Grizzlies were led by sixth-year head coach Bobby Hauck. Montana finished the regular season with an 11–1 overall record and a 7–1 record in conference play to win a share of their 11th straight Big Sky title. Montana secured a berth in the FCS playoffs where they defeated Texas State, Weber State, and James Madison in succession to advance to the championship game. There, they were defeated by Richmond, 24–7, to finish the season as the national championship runners-up. Bobby Hauck
Robert Lawrence Hauck (born June 14, 1964) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at the University of Montana, a position he held from 2003 to 2009 and resumed before the 2018 season. Hauck was also the head football coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) from 2010 to 2014. During his first stint as head coach at Montana, Hauck led the Grizzlies to seven Big Sky Conference titles and postseason berths in as many seasons, including three national championship game appearances. In 2013, following three losing seasons at UNLV, Hauck led the Rebels to their first winning season since 2000 only to backslide to 2-11 the following season leading to a buyout of his remaining contract and a negotiated resignation. ESPN GamePlan
ESPN GamePlan was an out-of-market sports package offering college football games to viewers throughout the United States. GamePlan began on Labor Day weekend, and continued through the first Saturday in December. It included all regional telecasts on ABC, as well as games from various syndicators like ESPN Plus, Raycom Sports and SportsWest, and some local stations like Allentown, Pennsylvania's WFMZ-TV which broadcast locally-produced college football games. Viewers could watch games from their cable or satellite provider or on the ESPN3 broadband Internet service. The 2008 Texas State Bobcats football team represented Texas State University–San Marcos in the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Bobcats led by second year head coach Brad Wright, played their home games at Bobcat Stadium as a member of the Southland Conference. They finished the season with a record of eight wins and five losses (8–5, 5–2 Southland). Despite finishing in second place in conference play, they earned the Southland Conference's automatic bid, due to the conference champion Central Arkansas being ineligible for the postseason due to their transition period after moving up from Division II. The Montana–Montana State football rivalry is an annual college football rivalry game between the University of Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State University Bobcats.
