2008 FA Trophy Final
The 2008 FA Trophy Final was the 39th final of the Football Association's cup competition for levels 5–8 of the English football league system. It was contested by Ebbsfleet United and Torquay United on 10 May 2008 at Wembley Stadium in London. Ebbsfleet United won the match 1–0 to win the competition for the first time in their history. Paul McCarthy (footballer Born 1971)
Paul Jason McCarthy (4 August 1971 – 19 February 2017) was an Irish footballer who last played for Ebbsfleet United as a defender. He made over 500 appearances in the Football League and Football Conference, notably for Brighton & Hove Albion, Wycombe Wanderers and Ebbsfleet United. Career Born in Cork, County Cork, McCarthy began his career as a trainee with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he made over 200 league and cup appearances before joining Wycombe Wanderers for a fee of £100,000 in July 1996. He made over 250 appearances for Wycombe in seven seasons at the club, helping the club to a FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool in April 2001. He scored Wycombe's first goal in their quarter-final win over Premier League side Leicester City, paving the way for Roy Essandoh to score the winner. Kevin John Nicholson (born 2 October 1980) is an English former professional footballer who is currently assistant manager of Exeter City. Playing career Born in Derby, Nicholson began his career as a trainee with Sheffield Wednesday, turning professional in August 1998. Martin Rice
Martin John Rice (born 7 March 1986) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Exmouth Town. He spent most of his early professional career at Exeter City and has since played for their rivals Torquay United and non-League side Truro City. Liam Sean Daish (born 23 September 1968) is a football coach, manager and former professional player who was appointed academy manager at Birmingham City in 2022. Daish was a centre-half who played in the Football League for Portsmouth, Cambridge United and Birmingham City, in the Premier League for Coventry City, and in non-league football for Barnet and Havant & Waterlooville. Chukwunyeaka Osondu "Chukki" Eribenne (born 2 November 1980) is an English former professional footballer. Career Born in Westminster, London, Eribenne began his career at Coventry City but didn't make an appearance for the first team. Mark James Ricketts (born 7 October 1984) is an English football defender who plays for Isthmian League Premier Division club Dulwich Hamlet. Luke Robert Moore (born 27 April 1988) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays for Dorking Wanderers as a forward. Moore was part of the AFC Wimbledon squad that triumphed over Luton Town in the 2011 Conference play-off final, scoring in the penalty shoot-out to help promote "The Dons" to the Football League. John Job Ayo Akinde (born 8 July 1989) is an English professional footballer who plays for League Two club Colchester United. Career Akinde's youth career started at Tottenham. Michael Bostwick
Michael Paul Trevor Bostwick (born 17 May 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for National League North club Boston United. Bostwick started his career at Millwall, and played regularly for the club's under-18 team and reserve team. At the age of 17, he joined Conference National club Crawley Town on a work experience loan during the latter stages of 2005–06 season.
