2008 America East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2008 America East men's basketball tournament was held from March 7–9 at the Binghamton University Events Center. The final was held March 15 at the Retriever Activities Center. As winners, the UMBC Retrievers win an automatic berth to the 2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament for the first time in their 22-year Division I history, with their win over Hartford. UMBC was given the 15th seed in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round to Georgetown 66–47. Binghamton University Events Center
Binghamton University Events Center is the premier Division I Athletics and multipurpose facility at Binghamton University. The arena opened in 2004 and is adjacent to the Bearcat Sports Complex. It is home to the Binghamton Bearcats Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program and can seat 5,142 patrons for home games, and over 8,000 for other large-scale events. It has hosted the 2005, 2006, and 2008 America East Conference men's basketball tournaments; the 2007 American East women's tournament as well as the first round and quarterfinal of the 2018 WBI tournament. Retriever Activities Center
Retriever Activities Center is a 4,024-seat multi-purpose arena in Catonsville, Maryland. The arena opened in 1973. It was home to the UMBC Retrievers basketball and volleyball teams, which represent the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in NCAA Division I athletics, from its opening until the larger Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena opened on campus in February 2018. Randy Monroe (born April 22, 1962) is an American college basketball coach. He is currently an assistant coach at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 2008 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 65 schools playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball as a culmination of the 2007–08 basketball season. The 70th annual edition of the tournament began on March 18, 2008, and concluded on April 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The 2007–08 Hartford Hawks men's basketball team represented the University of Hartford during the 2007–08 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was coached by second year coach Dan Leibovitz. The 2007–08 season was Hartford's most successful season in the division I era, finishing second in the regular season and reaching the conference championship finals. The America East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I founded in 1979, whose members are located in the Northeastern United States. The conference has nine core members including eight public research universities, three of which, the University of Maine, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Vermont, are the flagship universities of their states. The two non-flagship university centers of the State University of New York are in the conference: the University at Albany and Binghamton University.
