2007–08 York City F.C. Season
The 2007–08 season was the 86th season of competitive association football and fourth season in the Football Conference played by York City Football Club, a professional football club based in York, North Yorkshire, England. They finished in 17th place in the 24-team 2007–08 Conference Premier. York entered the 2007–08 FA Cup in the fourth qualifying round, losing to Havant & Waterlooville at home. They reached the semi-final of the 2007–08 FA Trophy, being beaten by Torquay United. York were knocked out in the fifth round of the 2007–08 Conference League Cup, after a penalty shoot-out defeat at home to Northwich Victoria. 34 players made at least one appearance in nationally organised first-team competition, and there were 16 different goalscorers. Jason McGill
Jason Alexander McGill (born April 1966) was the chairman of York City F.C., York City Football Club, a professional association football club based in York, North Yorkshire, England. Biography McGill played Association football, football for the reserve team of then non-League football, non-League side Wycombe Wanderers F.C., Wycombe Wanderers whilst at university in London. He grew up as a York City F.C., York City supporter and made a donation of £50,000 to the club while it was undergoing financial difficulties. He joined York City as a director after the Supporters' Trust completed their takeover of the club on 26 March 2003, eventually taking the role of managing director in September 2004 after Steve Beck (chairman), Steve Beck resigned as chairman. Chris Beardsley
Christopher Kellan Beardsley (born 28 February 1984) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He is the fitness coach at club Burton Albion. Beardsley played youth football with Mickleover Sports and Derby County before starting his senior career with Mansfield Town. He broke into the first team in December 2002, and spent a brief period on loan at Worksop Town in the 2003–04 season. He left Mansfield in June 2004 and joined Doncaster Rovers a month later. He failed to make an impact, and signed for Kidderminster Harriers in December 2004. He rejoined Mansfield in July 2005, but did not play regularly in his one-and-a-half-year stay, and was loaned out to Conference National club Rushden & Diamonds in January 2007. Emmanuel Ugochukwu Ezenwa "Manny" Panther (born 11 May 1984) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. David McGurk
David Michael McGurk (born 30 September 1982) is an English football manager and former professional player who played as a centre-back. He played in the Football League for Darlington and York City. McGurk started his career with the Darlington's youth system and broke into the first team during the 2001–02 season. He was eventually loaned out to York City in the Conference National in 2004. He had two further loan periods with York before joining the club permanently in 2006, after making 62 appearances for Darlington. He played for the team in the play-offs in his first season and won the club's Clubman of the Year award in his second season. The National League (named Vanarama National League for sponsorship reasons) is an association football league in England consisting of three divisions, the National League, National League North, and National League South.
