2007–08 Eastern Counties Football League
The 2007–08 season was the 66th in the history of Eastern Counties Football League, a football competition in England. Soham Town Rangers were champions, winning their first Eastern Counties Football League title and were promoted to the Southern Football League for the first time in their history. The Eastern Counties Football League, currently known as the Thurlow Nunn League for sponsorship purposes, is an English football league at levels 9 and 10 of the English football league system. It currently contains clubs from Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, eastern Cambridgeshire, eastern Hertfordshire, southern Lincolnshire, and north and east London. The league is a feeder to Division One North of the Isthmian League. History Formation During the early part of the 20th century there were several leagues covering East Anglia, including the Norfolk & Suffolk League, the East Anglian League, the Essex & Suffolk Border League and the Ipswich & District League, whilst some of the larger clubs (including Ipswich Town and Cambridge Town) played in the Southern Amateur League. Tiptree is a village and civil parish in the English county of Essex, situated south-west of Colchester and around north-east of London. Surrounding villages include Messing, Tolleshunt Knights, Tolleshunt Major, Layer Marney, Inworth, Birch, Great Braxted, Great Totham and Little Totham. The placename 'Tiptree' is first attested in a charter of circa 1225, where it appears as ''Typpetre''. The name means "Tippa's tree". The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 9,152. The 2008–09 season was the 106th in the history of the Southern League, which is an English football competition featuring semi-professional and amateur clubs from the South West, South Central and Midlands of England and South Wales. At the end of the season Division One Midlands was renamed Division One Central. Histon is a village and civil parish in the South Cambridgeshire district, in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It is immediately north of Cambridge – and is separated from the city – by the A14 road which runs east–west. In 2011 the parish had a population of 4655. Histon forms part of the Cambridge built-up area. Over the years the Histon and the neighbouring village of Impington have grown and entwined together, to such an extent that many villagers today do not know where one ends and the other begins. Harwich is a town in Essex, England, and one of the Haven ports on the North Sea coast. It is in the Tendring district.
