2007 World Series Of Poker
The 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) began on June 1st, 2007. The $10,000 ( US) no-limit Texas hold 'em Main Event began on July 6th and was completed on the morning of July 18th. All events were held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada by Harrah's Entertainment, which has run the annual event since its purchase from the Binion family in 2004. For the first time players began each event with double the amount of chips as the buy-in. This means that players in the Main Event started with 20,000 chips. The blind structure has also been increased and some blind levels removed but slowed to allow for more play. In addition to the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, which was first played at the 2006 World Series of Poker, this year there were 2 additional H.O.R.S.E. events with lower buy-ins ($2,500 and $5,000). Rio All-Suite Hotel And Casino
The Rio is a hotel and casino near the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, Paradise, Nevada, United States. It is owned by Dreamscape Companies LLC and operated by Eldorado Resorts, Caesars Entertainment. It includes a casino and 2,520 suites. It features a Brazilian theme based on Rio Carnival. Omaha hold 'em (also known as Omaha holdem or simply Omaha) is a community card poker game similar to Texas hold 'em, where each player is dealt four cards and must make their best hand using exactly two of them, plus exactly three of the five community cards. Gavin Smith (September 4, 1968 – January 14, 2019) was a Canadian professional poker player who won the World Poker Tour's Season IV Mirage Poker Showdown Championship event and the WPT Season IV Player of the Year award in 2005, then at the 2010 World Series of Poker, won the $2,500 Mixed Hold 'em event along with his first bracelet. The 2007 World Series of Poker was the 38th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP). Greg Mueller
Greg Mueller (born June 2, 1971) is a German and Canadian professional poker player and former professional ice hockey defenceman. Mueller was born in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. He began playing professional ice hockey in 1992 and played his entire career in Germany, playing the Eishockey-Bundesliga for EC Hedos München and the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for Maddogs München and Ratinger Löwen. Steve Billirakis (born May 23, 1986 in Hampshire, Illinois) is an American professional poker player. Billirakis won the first tournament of the 2007 World Series of Poker winning the $5,000 World Championship Mixed Hold'em Limit/No-Limit event after beating Canadian poker player and former professional hockey player Greg Mueller heads-up. Billirakis won $536,287 and became the then youngest WSOP bracelet winner in history, having won the event only 11 days after his 21st birthday. 2005 World Series Of Poker
The 2005 World Series of Poker opened play on June 2nd, continuing through the Main Event No Limit World Championship starting on July 7th. The conclusion of the Main Event on July 15th marked the close of play, and the largest prize in sports and/or television history at the time ($7,500,000) was awarded to the winner. ESPN's broadcast began July 19th with coverage of WSOP Circuit Tournaments, and coverage of the Main Event began October 11th and ended November 15th. All events were held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino with the exception of the final 2 days of the Main Event which were held at Binion's Horseshoe.
