Malé
Malé (, ; dv, މާލެ) is the capital and most populous city of the Maldives. With a population of 252,768 and an area of , it is also one of the most densely populated cities in the world. The city is geographically located at the southern edge of North Malé Atoll ( Kaafu Atoll). Administratively, the city consists of a central island, an airport island, and four other islands governed by the Malé City Council. Ali Ashfaq (; born 6 September 1985) is a Maldivian professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains the Maldives national team. Nicknamed "Man of Steel" (), he is regarded as one of the best players in the South Asian region. A prolific and individualistic goalscorer, he is a free-kick specialist and a clinical finisher. His trademark style of scoring is beating the defenders and rounding off the keeper to score. Ibrahim Shiyam
Ibrahim Shiyam (born 3 February 1982) is a Maldivian footballer nicknamed ''"Dhona"'' or ''"Kuda Thoddoo"''. Club career Shiyam started his career at Victory Sports Club in 2001 and was nominated for the Haveeru footballer of the year award in his debut season. He continued playing for Victory until moving to Club Valencia in 2009, but also played a season at Island FC in the year 2004. He then moved to New Radiant for the 2010 season and after spending a couple of seasons at the club, he signed to VB Sports Club. His contract with VB did not last long, he moved to Maziya after appealing to terminate his contract with VB before the 2012 season started, without playing a single game. Mukhthar Naseer is a Maldivian international footballer, who is currently plays for New Radiant SC in the Maldives. Mukhtar is from Thoddoo, Alif Alif Atoll. Maziya Sports and Recreation Club is a Maldivian professional football club based in Malé. They compete in the Dhivehi Premier League, the country's top division. The club was formed in 1996 and was promoted to the first division for the first time in 2006. History The club was founded on 23 January 1996. Club Valencia is a Maldivian football club based in Malé, Maldives. Nicknamed ''The Sunrisers'', the club competes in the Dhivehi Premier League, the top tier of Maldivian football. History The notion of establishing a football club named Club Valencia arose in the late 1970s from the players of blue and gold teams participating in the Junior Football Pool organized by National Sports Academy. The first two names proposed to the government for approval as the name of the club were Youth Recreation Movement and Juvenile Valencia Atletico; both were rejected.
