2007 AFL Women's National Championships
The 2007 AFL Women's National Championships took place in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. The tournament began on 11 June and ended on 16 July 2006. The 2006 tournament was the 16th Championship, the previous one being held in Sydney in 2006. The Senior-vics of Victoria won the 2006 Championship, defeating Western Australia in the final. It was Victoria's 15th successive title. Australian Capital Territory
The Australian Capital Territory (commonly abbreviated as ACT), known as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) until 1938, is a landlocked federal territory of Australia containing the national capital Canberra and some surrounding townships. Joanne Butland (born 24 November 1978) is an Australian who has played association football, Australian rules football and international rules football. Aasta O'Connor
Aasta O'Connor (born 21 June 1987) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played as a ruck for and for in the AFL Women's competition. She is also a member of the Darebin Falcons' VFL Women's team. Early life O'Connor was born in Brisbane and raised on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. She attended Immanuel Lutheran College throughout her upbringing and began playing football for the Northshore Jets under 10s mixed team in the local Sunshine Coast junior league. At the age of 18, O'Connor moved to Brisbane and began playing top level QAFLW football for the Logan Cobras. Lauren Arnell (born 15 March 1987) is a retired Australian rules footballer and senior coach of the Port Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women's competition, having previously played for Carlton and the Brisbane Lions. She served as Carlton's inaugural AFLW team captain in the 2017 season and won the 2021 premiership with the Brisbane Lions, before becoming 's inaugural coach in 2022. Moana Hope (born 14 February 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played in the AFL Women's competition from 2017 to 2019, including 13 matches over two seasons at and a further seven matches over one season at . Penny Cula-Reid (born 2 February 1988) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the AFL Women's competition. Prior to being signed for the national competition, she was a multiple premiership player in the Victorian Women's Football League and club captain for the St Kilda Sharks; she also represented Victoria at the under 19 national championships. She previously played 11 matches over a two-year tenure with . Meg Hutchins (born 3 February 1982) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Early life and state football In her early teens, she reverted to other sports when football was no longer an option due to league rules and a lack of girls' sides. She played hockey and basketball before becoming an elite rower. At the age of 21, she returned to football with VWFL club Eastern Devils, and was their leading goalkicker between 2005 and 2008, before switching to defence and playing as a key defender for eight seasons. Shannon McFerran
Shannon McFerran (born 13 June 1979) is an Australian rules football player in the Victorian Women's Football League. She currently plays at St Kilda Sharks women's football team. Playing career McFerran began playing for a St Albans FC boys' team at the age of nine. She played at St Albans with the boys until 12 years of age as girls could not play with boys after age 12.
