Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. In 1968, three of the genre's most famous pioneers – Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple – were founded. Though they came to attract wide audiences, they were often derided by critics. Several American bands modified heavy metal into more accessible forms during the 1970s: the raw, sleazy sound and shock rock of Alice Cooper and Kiss (band), Kiss; the blues-rooted rock of Aerosmith; and the flashy guitar leads and party rock of Van Halen. Black Breath (band)
Black Breath is an American heavy metal band from Washington that formed in Bellingham in 2006 and later moved to Seattle. They play hardcore punk-influenced extreme metal. A key factor of their sound is the " Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal Pedal", which was popularized by bands such as Entombed, Dismember and Edge of Sanity in the early 1990s. History Black Breath began in 2005, playing local bars and house shows in Bellingham. They released a few demos, and toured the underground before finally recording an actual EP in 2008. In 2008 they released the Razor to Oblivion EP under their own label, Hot Mass Records. The EP gained attention in the local music underground and the band signed with Southern Lord Records, a Los Angeles based metal and hardcore punk oriented label, in October 2009. Daughtry (band)
Daughtry is an American rock band formed and fronted by namesake Chris Daughtry, who was a finalist on the fifth season of ''American Idol''. Their self-titled debut album was released in November 2006 and reached number one on the ''Billboard'' 200. The album went on to sell more than six million copies in the United States, and has been certified six times platinum by the RIAA. ''Daughtry'' was also named the best selling album of 2007 by ''Billboard'', becoming the fastest-selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history. Conan (band)
Conan are a British doom metal band from Liverpool, England whose style is characterised by a heavily distorted and downtuned sound. It has been described as "caveman battle doom". History Conan was founded as a two piece by guitarist/singer Jon Davis in 2006, with Richie Grundy on drums. Following the departure of Grundy, Paul O'Neil took over on drums before the band went on nearly a year-long hiatus. Once activity resumed, the band added the position of bass guitarist and went through several musicians before Chris Fielding joined in 2013. Longtime drummer O'Neil, who had performed on both of the band's full-length albums, was replaced by Rich Lewis in 2014. Coldworker
Coldworker was a Swedish deathgrind band, formed in early 2006. The band signed a deal with Relapse Records in June 2006, and since then released three studio albums, the debut '' The Contaminated Void'', in November 2006, followed by '' Rotting Paradise'', in May 2008, and '' The Doomsayer's Call'' in February 2012. The band split up in July 2013. History Coldworker was formed in early 2006 by Nasum's former drummer Anders Jakobson, who recruited guitarist Anders Bertilsson (formerly of The Project Hate MCMXCIX) and bassist Oskar Pålsson. Circle Of Contempt
Circle of Contempt is a Finnish metalcore band formed in Pori in 2006. The band consists of lead vocalist Denis Hautaniemi, bassist Markus Karhumäki, drummer JP Kaukonen and guitarists Risto-Matti Toivonen and Ville Patrikainen. The band has released two full-length albums and four EPs, and is currently operating independently. History Circle of Contempt was founded in 2006 under the name Thrust Moment by former vocalist Riku Haavisto, guitarist Risto-Matti Toivonen, bassist Markus Karhumäki and drummer JP Kaukonen. Cerebral Bore was a Scottish brutal death metal band from Glasgow, formed in 2006. The band comprises guitarist Paul McGuire, drummer Allan "McDibet" MacDonald and bassist Federico Benini. Cerebral Bore released a debut album, '' Maniacal Miscreation'', in 2011 via Earache Records and have toured in United States, Europe, Russia, Israel, Mexico and India. Cauldron (band)
Cauldron is a Canadian heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in 2006 in Toronto following the breakup of Goat Horn, with guitarist Brandon Wars leaving to form a new band, Zuku. Cauldron consists of Jason Decay on vocals and bass guitar, Ian Chains on guitar and Myles Deck on drums. Castevet was an American black metal band formed in 2006 in New York City, New York. The band announced their breakup on July 21, 2014. The last line-up of the band featured Andrew Hock on vocals and guitar, Ian Jacyszyn on drums and Krallice member Nicolas McMaster on bass guitar. History The band was formed by guitarist Andrew Hock, bassist Daniel Olivencia and drummer Ian Jacyszyn. Jacyszyn performed with the death metal act Copremesis. Cannabis Corpse is a cannabis-themed death metal band. Cannabis Corpse formed in Richmond, Virginia in 2006 under the Forcefield label. Since then, Cannabis Corpse has released six LP record, LPs and two Extended play, EPs. The band features members of Municipal Waste (band), Municipal Waste and Antietam 1862. Their name originates as a parody of the name of veteran death metal band Cannibal Corpse. Brymir is a Finnish melodic death metal/symphonic metal band from Helsinki founded in 2006. Biography They were formed in the summer of 2006 during a music summer camp under the name LAI LAI HEI (named of the Ensiferum track of the same name). After the win of a camp-competition covering the Ensiferum track "Token of Time", the band quickly became more serious and started to compose their own music under the current name Brymir.
