2006 Tippeligaen
The 2006 Tippeligaen was the 62nd completed season of top division football in Norway. The season began on April 9, 2006 and ended on November 5, 2006. Rosenborg became champions on October 29, with one round to go, by defeating Viking at home. The other main contenders for the title were Brann and Lillestrøm, the former securing their place as runners-up on the same day. Rosenborg won their twentieth league title. 2005 Tippeligaen
The 2005 Tippeligaen was the 61st completed season of top division football in Norway. The season began on 10 April 2005, and was concluded with the last of 26 rounds played on 29 October. 3 points were given for wins and 1 for draws. Vålerenga, the winner of this year's season entered the second round of next year's Champions League qualification, while the runners-up ( Start), number 3 ( Lyn) and the Norwegian Cup winners enter the UEFA Cup qualification round. The top four teams qualified for the 2004–05 Royal League. 1,726,145 people attended the matches, a new record for the Tippeligaen and 300,000 more than the previous year. It is also more than twice as many as in 1995, when only 841,717 attended the matches during the whole season. Knut Tørum
Knut Kjartan Tørum (born 16 August 1971 in Bergen) is a Norwegian football coach. He's a former manager for Moss FK, leading the team to the Tippeliga play-off's in 2005. He's also a former assistant coach for Stabæk Fotball. In August 2006, Tørum (at the time the club's assistant coach) took over as substitute head-coach for Rosenborg after Per Mathias Høgmo took a two-month sick leave. His take-over was very successful starting with eight league wins in a row (a club record) and earned Tørum the title coach of the month for August and October 2006. Rosenborg stated that Høgmo would return to his job as the club's head coach after the season, despite Tørums success. Tørum led Rosenborg in the last rounds of the league, and secured Rosenborg the gold medals. Per-Mathias Høgmo
Per-Mathias Høgmo (born 1 December 1959) is a football manager from Norway and former player. He is the former manager of the Norway national football team. He has previously been head coach of Norway women's national football team and the Tippeligaen sides Tromsø, Moss and Rosenborg. While being head coach of Tromsø he was working on a PhD in football at the University in Tromsø. Biography Høgmo grew up in the small community of Gratangen in southern Troms, and began his football career as a midfielder for his local club Gratangen IL. In 1978, he joined FK Mjølner, the biggest club in his home region, and spent six seasons with the Narvik side before moving to Tromsø in 1984, where he joined Tromsø IL, and spent the rest of his top-level playing career with the exception of a short spell with Swedish team IFK Norrköping in 1985-86. Steinar Nilsen
Steinar Nilsen (born 1 May 1972) is a Norwegian football coach who has been in charge of Tromsø and Brann in the Norwegian Premier League. As a player, he played as a central defender at Tromsø and also had a notable stay in Italy's Serie A and Serie B, before retiring in 2004. He won two caps for Norway. He is the brother of Roger Nilsen. Player career Nilsen played for Tromsø between 1989 and 1997, before he was sold to A.C. Milan. Nilsen then moved on to S.S.C. Napoli, before returning to Tromsø in 2003. Ivar Morten Normark
Ivar Morten Normark (born 27 May 1963, in Narvik) is a Norwegian football coach and former player. His most recent head coaching job was at FK Mjølner in the 2. divisjon. Normark resigned from this position at the end of the 2013 season. Normark led Aalesund to both promotion to, and relegation from the Norwegian Premier League twice. After the last relegation in 2005, Normark was fired from his job, but was quickly snapped up by Tromsø. His stay in Tromsø was not very successful, and on 26 July 2006, he was sacked after only seven months in the manager's chair. In October 2006 he agreed to take over the Sápmi national football team. As an active player, Normark had his best years at Bodø/Glimt, where he won the Norwegian Cup and silver medals in Tippeligaen in 1993. Stig Inge Bjørnebye
Stig Inge Bjørnebye (born 11 December 1969) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played in Norway, England, and Denmark, most notably for Liverpool, and is currently the sports director of the Danish football club AGF Aarhus. His preferred position was left back, which he occupied for domestic clubs and the national team. Bjørnebye was appointed assistant manager of Norway in 2003, relinquishing the role three years later to succeed Tom Nordlie as manager of IK Start. IK Start
Idrettsklubben Start (or simply IK Start, translates to The sports club Start ) is a Norwegian football club from the city of Kristiansand that currently plays in the 1. divisjon, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system. The club was founded on 19 September 1905. The club's current head coach is Sindre Tjelmeland. The team plays in yellow jerseys, black shorts and socks at home, and black jerseys, yellow shorts and socks away. Tom Nordlie
Tom Nordlie (born 2 March 1962) is a Norwegian football coach. He has managed several top Norwegian football teams. Playing career Nordlie was not a footballer himself, but he did play for the national water polo team. He has his education from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. Managing career Nordlie is a household name in Norway, having managed several top-flight teams. He is known for introducing the concept ''kontrollert sinnsyk'', i.e. "controlledly insane". In 1998, he led Odd Grenland to promotion to the Norwegian top division, and to a respectable seventh place the next season. Alfheim Stadium
Romssa Arena, previously known as Alfheim Stadion, is a football stadium located in Tromsø, Norway and home of Eliteserien side Tromsø IL. Romssa Arena has a seating capacity of 6,801 and artificial turf. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenanceartificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. Domed, covered, and partially covered stadiums may require artificial turf because of the difficulty of getting grass enough sunlight to stay healthy.
