2006 Division II Men's Soccer Championship
The 2006 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship was the 35th annual NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship, tournament held by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA to determine the top men's NCAA Division II, Division II college soccer program in the United States. Thirty-two teams participated in the tournament. The Dowling Golden Lions defeated Fort Lewis Skyhawks, Fort Lewis, 1–0, at the DII Championship Festival, held in Pensacola, Florida. Morten Jensen (football coach), Morten Jensen scored the match's lone goal in the 38th minute to give the Golden Lions the school's first national title. Dowling, who finished the season 22-0-2, were coached by John Dirico. NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship
The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship is the annual tournament held by the NCAA to determine the top men's Division II college soccer program in the United States. It has been played annually since 1972; prior to then, all teams competed in a single class. The most successful program has been Southern Connecticut State, with six national titles. The current champion are Franklin Pierce, who won their first national title in 2022, defeating CSU Pueblo, 2–0, in the final. Format The Division II tournament is structured around four unbalanced Super Regionals from the eight NCAA regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West). At least two and as many as six teams from each region are selected with no automatic qualifiers given. The SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's soccer team represents Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in the Missouri Valley Conference of NCAA Division I soccer. The Limestone Saints are the athletic teams that represent Limestone University, located in Gaffney, South Carolina, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions. The Incarnate Word Cardinals, also known as UIW Cardinals, are composed of 23 teams representing the University of the Incarnate Word in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and track and field.
