The 2006 British National Track Championships were a series of track cycling competitions held from 3–7 October 2006 at the Manchester Velodrome. They are organised and sanctioned by British Cycling, and were open to British cyclists. Manchester

Jason Queally
Jason Paul Queally (born 11 May 1970) is an English track cyclist. He won a gold medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Early years Born at Great Heywood, Staffordshire, Queally spent his childhood in Caton, a village near Lancaster. He attended Caton County Primary School and Lancaster Royal Grammar School, where he was part of the swimming squad in the mid-1980s, later representing Lancaster and British Universities in water polo while a student at Lancaster University, where he earned a BSc in Biological Science. He took up cycle-racing at 25. In 1996, he nearly died in an accident at Meadowbank cycling track in Edinburgh (Chris Hoy brought down all the riders behind him, having caught the wheel of Craig MacLean) when an 18-inch sliver of the wooden track entered his chest via his armpit. Ben Swift
Benjamin Ian Swift (born 5 November 1987) is a British professional Track cycling, track and road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Swift won the UCI Track Cycling World Championships – Men's scratch, scratch race at the 2012 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the men's elite road race at the 2019 and 2021 British National Road Race Championships. His cousin, Connor Swift, is also an English professional road racing cyclist, and the 2018 British champion. Biography Swift was born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, he began cycling with Mossley Cycle Racing Team aged 12. In 2003, he came second to fellow Olympian Steven Burke in the under 16 national scratch race championship. Ian Stannard
Ian Dexter Stannard (born 25 May 1987) is a British former professional track and road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2008 and 2020 for the , and teams, before retiring after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. He now works as a directeur sportif for UCI Continental team . Career Early career Born in Chelmsford, Stannard initially focused on the road and track, winning a gold medal in the time trial at the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games, and a gold in the Under-23 Team Pursuit at the 2006 European Track Championships, alongside future Sky teammate Geraint Thomas. Ross Sander
Ross Reid, previously known as Ross Sander (born 21 August 1987) is a Welsh former professional racing cyclist from Llanharry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. He represented Wales at the Youth Commonwealth Games in 2004. He was part of the British quartet that took the gold medal in the junior men's team pursuit at the 2005 UEC European Track Championships, alongside Steven Burke, Ian Stannard and Andy Tennant. Shortly afterwards, he broke his wrist whilst competing in the team pursuit, representing Great Britain in the junior UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 2005: after setting a new British record in the qualifying round, Reid and Burke touched wheels and crashed in the final - the team won silver, losing the gold to New Zealand because of the accident. Edward Franklin Clancy (born 12 March 1985) is a British former professional track and road bicycle racer, who competed between 2004 and 2021. During his career, Clancy won four medals (three gold, one bronze) at the Summer Olympic Games, twelve medals (six gold, five silver and one bronze) at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, seven medals (five gold, two bronze) at the UEC European Track Championships, as well as a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. British National Team Pursuit Championships
The British National Team Pursuit Championships are held annually as part of the British National Track Championships organized by British Cycling. Prior to 1996, there were two separate team pursuit championship events for amateur and professional riders. A women's championship was later added, competing over a shorter 3 km distance with three riders, until 2013 when this was increased to 4 km with 4 riders as in the men's event. Chris Newton
Christopher Malcolm Newton (born 29 September 1973, Middlesbrough, England) is a road and track racing cyclist. Newton is a multiple world champion and triple Olympic medalist. Biography Newton went to Linthorpe Juniors and Boynton Comprehensive in Teesside, and, aged 13, started cycling with Teesside Clarion. He is an alumnus of the University of Teesside in Middlesbrough. Newton first competed in the Commonwealth Games in 1994, winning the silver medal in the Team Pursuit with Tony Doyle, Rob Hayles and Bryan Steel. Paul Christian Manning, (born 6 November 1974, Sutton Coldfield) is a former English professional track and road bicycle racer who rode for the UCI Professional Continental team Landbouwkrediet-Tönissteiner in 2007 and 2008. He is strong in the Individual and Team Pursuit disciplines on track and has won many medals for Britain in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Track World Championships and Track World Cups. David Millar
David Millar (born 4 January 1977) is a Scottish retired professional road racing cyclist. He rode for Cofidis from 1997 to 2004 and Garmin-Sharp from 2008 to 2014. He has won four stages of the Tour de France, five of the Vuelta a España and one stage of the Giro d'Italia. The British National Individual Pursuit Championships are held annually as part of the British National Track Championships organised by British Cycling. A women's championship was held for the first time in 1960. The race is contested over 4,000 metres but the former Professional version was contested over 5,000 metres.
