2006 British National Cycling Championships
The British National Road Race Championships 2006 took place on 24 and 25 June in the Yorkshire town, Beverley. The men's road race saw a new champion, Hamish Haynes but the women's race held no surprises as Nicole Cooke took her seventh victory - her sixth in a row. Races Men's National Road Race Championships The men's race started in Beverley and the 116.8 mile race took the riders around East Riding, before finishing with 3 laps on a 4.9 miles circuit in Beverley. The line-up of 76 riders included 4 former champions, Jeremy Hunt, Matthew Stephens, Roger Hammond and the reigning champion Russell Downing. The attacks started as soon as the race started, with the first attacker being Adam Norris. There were many other attacks in the early stages of the race and some of the prominent attackers were: Duncan Urquhart, Jeremy Hunt, Steve Cummings and Roger Hammond. Jo Rowsell
Joanna Katie Rowsell MBE (born 5 December 1988) is a retired English cyclist on the Great Britain Cycling Team who competed on track and road. Her greatest successes were the gold medals won in the women's team pursuit at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics as well as five World Championship titles, four in the team pursuit (2008, 2009, 2012 and 2014) plus one in the individual pursuit at the 2014 World Championships. Robin Sharman (born 8 December 1979) is an English road racing cyclist and coach from Repton, Derbyshire. He competed in the Under-23 road races at the UCI Road World Championships in 2000 and 2001. Andrew Jackson (March 15, 1767 – June 8, 1845) was an American lawyer, planter, general, and statesman who served as the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1837.
