2005–06 New Zealand Knights FC Season
The 2005–06 New Zealand Knights FC season was the club's inaugural season in the Australian A-League. Picking up just one win and three draws out of the 21 regular season matches, the Knights finished at the bottom of the table, 20 points behind 7th placed Melbourne Victory. Season overview In their debut season, the Knights scored only 15 goals in their 21 fixtures. Their joint leading scorers were Englishman Simon Yeo and teenage whizkid Jeremy Brockie, with four apiece. Sean Devine scored three goals, while Joshua Rose, Jeremy Christie, Neil Emblen and Xiaobin Zhang all managed to find the back of the net once. Former Walsall right-back Darren Bazeley was the only Knight to start in all 21 of their games. New Zealand Knights FC
New Zealand Knights Football Club (formed from the Football Kingz Football Club in 2004) were the only professional association football club in New Zealand before they became defunct. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, they played in the A-League, Australia's premier football competition and have since been replaced by the Wellington Phoenix. Zhang Xiaobin (; born February 14, 1985 in Zhangjiakou, Hebei) is a Chinese footballer. Club career Zhang Xiaobin began his career as an attacking midfielder for the various Shaanxi Guoli youth teams. In 2001, when Shaanxi Guoli sent its youth team to train in Stockport, England, the club Stockport County F.C. would be impressed by the 16-year-old Zhang and take him on loan. While at Stockport Zhang spent three years rising through the youth and then reserve teams, however he was unable to break into the first team. After being unable to obtain a position on the first team of Stockport County, Zhang moved to the Australian league to start his professional senior career with A-League side New Zealand Knights where he made his debut against Queensland Roar on August 28, 2005 in the first game of the 2005–06 A-League season, which ended in a 2-0 defeat. Paul Richard Nevin (born 23 June 1969) is a football coach and former player. He is a first team coach at Premier League club West Ham United. Playing career Nevin began his playing career at Shrewsbury Town, before playing college soccer whilst studying at the University of Evansville in the United States. Thomas Cyril Mason (July 8, 1939 – January 22, 2015) was an American football running back in the National Football League (NFL). College career Mason played college football for Tulane University. *1959: 10 Games – 81 carries for 336 yards. 5 catches for 54 yards and 2 TD. *1960: 10 Games – 120 carries for 663 yards. 28 catches for 376 yards and 5 TD. Professional career Mason was selected first overall by the expansion Minnesota Vikings in the 1961 NFL Draft. In six seasons with the Vikings, he rushed for 3,252 yards and scored 28 touchdowns. In 1967 NFL season, he was signed by the Los Angeles Rams. He played with the Rams for four years, but accumulated only four touchdowns and less than 900 yards. Ronnie Rodney Bull (born 26 December 1980) is an English former professional footballer who played as a left full back and left-sided or central midfielder from 1999 to 2013.
