The 2005 Women's British Open was held 28–31 July at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England. It was the 29th edition of the Women's British Open, and the fifth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. Jeong Jang led wire-to-wire and won her first LPGA event and only major title, four strokes ahead of runner-up Sophie Gustafson. Michelle Wie, age 15, tied for third and was the low amateur in her final major before turning professional in the fall. Sophie Sandolo (born 20 July 1976) is an Italian professional golfer who plays on the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career Sandolo was born Nice, France. She began playing golf at 14 and made the Italian national team by the age of 16. She was Regional All-American while playing for the University of California, Los Angeles. She won the European Ladies Amateur Championship in 1999 after being runner up in 1998. Liselotte Maria "Lotta" Neumann (born 20 May 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. When she recorded her first LPGA Tour win, by claiming the 1988 U.S. Women's Open title, Neumann also became the first Swedish golfer, male or female, to win a major championship. Early years Neumann was born and grew up in Finspång, Sweden. Her father Rune was a former football player and coach of a local girls football team. Emilee Klein (born June 11, 1974) is an American professional golfer and college golf coach who played on the LPGA Tour. Klein was born in Santa Monica, California and grew up in Sherman Oaks, California, where she attended Notre Dame High School. She had a successful amateur career winning several tournaments including the 1991 U.S. Girls' Junior. She played college golf at Arizona State University and won the 1994 NCAA Division I Championship as well as being on the winning team in 1993 and 1994. Nicole Perrot (born 26 December 1983) is a Chilean professional golfer. She is the first Chilean-born player to win on the LPGA Tour. Perrot was born in Viña del Mar, Chile. Pak Se-ri or Se-ri Pak ( ko, 박세리, ; born 28 September 1977) is a South Korean former professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour from 1998 to 2016. The 2002 Women's British Open was held 8–11 August at the Ailsa Course at Turnberry Golf Club in South Ayrshire, Scotland.
