The 2005 San Francisco 49ers season was the 60th year for the team overall, and their 56th season in the NFL. They improved their two-win 2004 season by two games. Former head coach Dennis Erickson had been fired just after the end of the 2004 season, and Mike Nolan (son of former Niners head coach Dick Nolan) took the helm. NFC West
The National Football Conference - Western Division or NFC West is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks. The division was formed in 1967 as the National Football League Coastal Division, keeping with the theme of having all of the league's divisions starting with the letter "C." The division was so named because its teams were fairly close to the coasts of the United States, although they were on opposite coasts, making for long travel between division rivals. 2004 Utah Utes Football Team
The 2004 Utah Utes football team represented the University of Utah in the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. This team was the original ' BCS Buster', meaning, this was the first time that a team from a BCS non-AQ conference was invited to play in one of the BCS bowl games. The team, coached by second-year head football coach Urban Meyer, played its home games in Rice-Eccles Stadium. Utah finished the season 12–0, the fourth undefeated and untied season in school history. 2004 Michigan Wolverines Football Team
The 2004 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan during the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team's head football coach was Lloyd Carr. The Wolverines played their home games at Michigan Stadium. The team finished the season with an overall record 9–3 and a mark of 7–1 in Big Ten Conference play, winning its second consecutive conference title. They would not win another one until 2021. Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost Lineman (American football), lineman of the offensive line on a football team's Offense (sports), offense. David Baas
David Andrew Baas (born September 28, 1981) is a former American football center. He played college football for the University of Michigan, and was recognized as a consensus All-American and the top college center. The San Francisco 49ers selected him in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft, and he was a member of the New York Giants' Super Bowl XLVI championship team against the New England Patriots. Early years Baas was born in Bixby, Oklahoma. He attended Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida, and was a letterman in high school football and track and field for the Riverview Rams. Alexander Douglas Smith (born May 7, 1984) is an American former quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons. He played college football at Utah, where he received first-team All-American honors and won the 2005 Fiesta Bowl. Following his collegiate success, he was selected first overall by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2005 NFL Draft. The 2020 season was the Washington Football Team's 89th in the National Football League and their first under head coach Ron Rivera. The season also marked the first time since their inaugural season as the Braves in 1932 that the team was not known as the Redskins, as they retired the name and logo during the offseason in the wake of the George Floyd protests, after decades of controversy. The team improved upon its 3–13 record in 2019 by going 7–9 and winning the NFC East for the first time since 2015. The 2013 season was the Kansas City Chiefs' 44th in the National Football League (NFL), their 54th overall and their first under the head coach/general manager tandem of Andy Reid and John Dorsey. The 2011 San Francisco 49ers season was the franchise's 66th season overall, and 62nd in the National Football League (NFL). It was the first season under head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke. The 49ers rebounded from their disappointing 2010 season to end their streak of eight consecutive non-winning seasons. After defeating the St. Louis Rams in week 13 and attaining a 10–2 record, the team clinched the NFC West and made their first playoff appearance since 2002. The 2005 season was the Green Bay Packers' 85th in the National Football League (NFL) and their 87th overall. It would be the first season the franchise would have involving quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They failed to improve their overall record of 10–6 from 2004 and were ousted from the playoffs for the first time since 2000. It was also the Packers' worst record since their 1991 season.
