2005 National Hurling League
The 2005 National Hurling League, known for sponsorship reasons as the Allianz National Hurling League, was the 74th edition of the National Hurling League (NHL), an annual hurling competition for the GAA county teams. Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny won the league, beating Clare GAA, Clare in the final. An experimental rule was trialled in the 2005 NHL, with two points being awarded for a point scored directly from a sideline cut. Structure Division 1 There are 12 teams in Division 1, divided into 1A and 1B. Each team plays all the others in its group once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. *The top three in 1A and 1B advance to Division 1 Section 1. *The bottom three in 1A and 1B go into the Division 1 Section 2. Peter Barry (hurler)
Peter Joseph Barry (born 24 November 1974) is an Irish former hurler who played as a left wing-back at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Kilkenny, Barry first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of nineteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny under-21 team. He joined the senior panel during the 1996 championship. Barry later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won three All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and three National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team, Barry won one Railway Cup medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level he is a one-time All-Ireland-winning captain with James Stephens. In addition to this he has also won two Leinster medals and two championship medals. Wicklow GAA
The Wicklow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Cill Mhantáin) or Wicklow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Wicklow. The county board is also responsible for the Wicklow county teams. The county football team plays in the Leinster Senior Football Championship. Wicklow has had very little success at senior level, being the only football team in the province and one of two in Ireland to have never won a senior title in either code, the other being Fermanagh. The county hurling team competes in the Christy Ring Cup, the third tier of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. 2003 National Hurling League
The 2003 National Hurling League was the 72nd seasons of the National Hurling League. Division 1 Kilkenny came into the season as defending champions of the 2002 season. Laois entered Division 1 as the promoted team. On 5 May 2003, Kilkenny won the title following a 5–14 to 5–13 win over Tipperary in the final. It was their second league title in succession and their 11th National League title overall. Derry, who lost all of their group stage matches, were relegated from Division 1 after losing all of their matches in the relegation group. Ger Farragher (born 10 June 1983) is an Irish sportsman. He played in the forward line on the Galway senior hurling team. He plays his club hurling with Castlegar. Farragher was born in Galway in 1983 and has had much success in the game of hurling. At inter-county level he has won 2 back-to-back minor All-Ireland medals in 1999 and 2000. In 2002 he made his senior championship debut and has gone on to be one of the game's most prolific scorers. Farragher also has an All-Ireland senior hurling runners-up medal from 2005 when he was the top-scorer in the championship.
