2005 Hopman Cup
The 2005 Hopman Cup (also known as the Hyundai Hopman Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 17th edition of the Hopman Cup. Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchová and Dominik Hrbatý of Slovakia were the champions, when they defeated Argentina in the final. It was Slovakia's second Hopman Cup win. The event took place at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth from 1 January 2005 through 8 January 2005. The round robin event had one African nation that played in the main draw of this year's Hopman Cup: Zimbabwe, who lost 1–2 to The Netherlands. Tennis Court
A tennis court is the venue where the sport of tennis is played. It is a firm rectangular surface with a low net stretched across the centre. Guillermo Coria
Guillermo Sebastián Coria (born 13 January 1982), nicknamed ''El Mago'' (''The Magician'' in Spanish), is an Argentine retired professional tennis player. He reached a career-high ATP world No. 3 singles ranking in May 2004. Coria achieved his best results on clay, where he won eight of his nine ATP singles titles, and during his prime years in 2003 and 2004 was considered "the world's best clay-court player." He reached the final of the 2004 French Open, where he was defeated by Gastón Gaudio despite serving for the match twice and being up two sets to love. Henry Christian Hopman CBE (12 August 1906 – 27 December 1985) was an Australian tennis player and coach. Early life Harry Hopman was born on 12 August 1906 in Glebe, Sydney as the third child of John Henry Hopman, a schoolteacher, and Jennie Siberteen, née Glad. His family then moved to Parramatta. Hopman started playing tennis at the age of 13 and, playing barefoot, won an open singles tournament on a court in the playground of Rosehill Public School where his father was headmaster. James Riley "The Baker" Blake (born December 28, 1979) is an American former professional tennis player. He was known for his speed and powerful, flat forehand. Meghann Shaughnessy (born April 13, 1979 in Richmond, Virginia) is an American former professional tennis player. She achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 11 in 2001 and won six titles on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. Mark Anthony Philippoussis ( ; born 7 November 1976) is an Australian former professional tennis player of Greek and Italian descent. Paul Baccanello
Paul Baccanello (born 12 June 1979, in Adelaide) is a former Australian professional tennis player. He has sustained various injuries during his career, which have hampered his results. Career Baccanello managed to qualify for the main draw at Wimbledon in 2003. He defeated former top 100 player Ivo Heuberger in the first round, before falling in a tight four set match to Croatian Ivo Karlović in the second round. As a result, he earned a career best prize-money of over $23,000 and rose 37 places in the ATP rankings. Alicia Molik (born 27 January 1981) is an Australian former professional tennis player. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 8 and a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 6. Francesca Schiavone (; born 23 June 1980) is an Italian former professional tennis player. She turned professional in 1998 and won the 2010 French Open singles title, becoming the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam event in singles. She was also runner-up at the 2011 French Open.
