2005 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship
The 2005 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship was the eighth edition of the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. The city of Chekhov, in Russia, hosted the tournament. Russia won their first title. Ukraine and the Czech Republic were relegated to Division B. Format change For the first time, the format of the competition was changed. Four more teams entered the competition, and another round was played. The two last teams were relegated to Division B. Nikita Kurbanov
Nikita Aleksandrovich Kurbanov (russian: Никита Александрович Курбанов; born October 5, 1986) is a Russian professional basketball player and the team captain of CSKA Moscow of the VTB United League. Standing at , Professional career Kurbanov made his professional debut with CSKA Moscow during the 2004–05 season. He then moved to Lokomotiv Rostov, before returning to CSKA Moscow. Luka Bogdanović ( sr, Лука Богдановић, born February 11, 1985) is a Serbian former professional basketball player who last played for Joventut Badalona of the Liga ACB. Artūras Jomantas (born May 4, 1985) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player who plays for Mažeikiai of the Lithuanian Basketball League. Professional career Born in Mažeikiai, Lithuania, he made his debut with Mažeikiai Nafta during the 2001-02 season. He played high-school basketball at Laurinburg Normal HS. In 2004, he signed with Šiauliai and played there until the end of the 2005–06 season. He joined Lietuvos rytas in 2006 and stayed there for 7 seasons. Despite being a solid player at first, his career in Lietuvos rytas quickly went downward, and he was eventually released in May 2013. Kaspars Bērziņš (born 25 August 1985) is a Latvian professional basketball player for New Taipei CTBC DEA of the T1 League. He has also represented the senior Latvian national team. Professional career Kaspars started playing basketball in his hometown of Ogre. Later he played for Skonto Riga, debuting in 2002–2003 season.
