2005 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Season
The 2005 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season was the fifteenth Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season. The season began at Zolder on 30 April and finished at Monza on 22 October, after sixteen races. Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi scored six victories at Bugatti Circuit, Oschersleben, Donington Park, Estoril and Monza during the season, he took the championship at the wheel of his Prema Powerteam-run car. Red Bull-backed driver Michael Ammermüller who competed with Jenzer Motorsport was the only Koboyashi's rival for championship title was not resolved until the final round, and Ammermüller finished in series' standings just eight points behind Japanese driver, winning races at Zolder, Valencia, Bilbao and Oschersleben. John Edwards (racing Driver)
John Michael Edwards (born March 11, 1991) is an American professional racing driver, and BMW Motorsport works driver. Career Edwards began racing cars at the young age of 12 in 2003 in the Skip Barber Series. To the best of his knowledge he became the youngest open wheel racing driver in history, taking his first win at Daytona International Speedway at 12 years and 238 days of age. In 2005 he went to Europe to compete first in Italian Karting and then after an unexpected early promotion to the world of European motor racing at age 14 he was the youngest to ever hold a FIA racing license racing in Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup and Formula Renault 2.0 Germany. Walter Grubmüller
Walter Grubmüller (born 13 January 1989 in Vienna) is an Austrian racing driver. Career Karting Beginning his karting career in his native Austria in 2000, Grubmüller did not move up into the major international series until 2002, with an appearance at the South Garda Winter Cup. Competing in the ICA Junior class in 2003, Grubmüller finished seventh in the European Championship, and finished tied 24th with Luxembourg's Samuel Curridor, in the Italian Open Masters. Grubmüller continued at the ICA Junior level in 2004, combining a karting campaign with appearances in the Formula Renault Monza series. He moved to MGM Racing to drive one of their Birel karts, finishing eighth in the Andrea Margutti Trophy, and third behind Philipp Eng and Marco Wittmann in the Italian Open Masters. EPIC Racing (Euskadi Phil Imanol Claudio Racing) was a racing team from Spain. The team's headquarters were located in Vitoria ( Alava). It was the second major motorsport team from the Basque Country, (Euskadi). Epsilon Euskadi was the biggest one and ran their own team in World Series by Renault and Formula Renault before selling the racing division to EPIC Racing in March 2011 in a bid to run the World Series by Renault with both FR3.5 and FR2.0 when Epsilon Euskadi ran into financial trouble and allowed all personnel involved to maintain their jobs. Junior Strous (born 28 April 1986 in Vlaardingen) is a Dutch racing driver, racing team owner, and entrepreneur from Wassenaar. Gustavo Sondermann (February 17, 1982 – April 3, 2011) was a Brazilian racing driver. Career Sondermann began racing karts at the age of sixteen and soon moved up to the Brazilian Formula Renault championship for 2002, in which he competed for two years with mixed results. In 2004 he moved to Europe to compete in the equivalent British series, and also made a guest appearance in the Formula Renault Eurocup the following year, but subsequently returned to Brazil in 2006 to compete in the national stock car championship.
