2004 Pacific Curling Championships
The 2004 Pacific Curling Championships were held at the Euiam Ice Rink in Chuncheon, South Korea from November 20 to 25. New Zealand's Sean Becker won the men's event over Australia's Hugh Millikin. By virtue of reaching the finals, both nations qualified for the 2005 Ford World Men's Curling Championship in Victoria, British Columbia. On the women's side, Japan's Yumie Funayama defeated China's Wang Bingyu in the final. Chuncheon
Chuncheon (; ; formerly romanized as Chunchŏn; literally ''spring river'') is the capital of Gangwon Province in South Korea. The city lies in the north of the county, located in a basin formed by the Soyang River and Han River. Mari Motohashi
is a Japanese curler. Career Motohashi was a member of Team Aomori which represented Japan at two Winter Olympics (2006 and 2010). She threw second stones for Ayumi Onodera at the 2006 Winter Olympics, finishing 7th, and played second for Moe Meguro at the 2010 Winter Olympics, finishing 8th. She skipped the Japan team at the 2002 World Junior Curling Championships, finishing last. She has also played for Japan at five World Curling Championships: 2004 (7th), 2005 (9th), 2007 (9th), 2008 (4th) & 2010 (11th). After playing for the Meguro rink from 2007 to 2010, Motohashi began skipping her own team. She has yet to represent Japan internationally as a skip on the senior level. Helen Williams (née Helen Wright, born 6 March 1973 in Scotland) is an Australian female curler originally from Scotland. Biography She is a farmer's daughter from Scotland, from a curling family. She was runner-up in the Scottish Junior Championships, and then played with Olympic gold medallist Rhona Martin’s team for a while. Bridget Becker (born 1 January 1981 in Ranfurly, Otago, New Zealand) is a New Zealand female curler. On international level she is runner-up of 2010 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, runner-up () and four-time bronze medallist (, , , ) of Pacific Curling Championships. Kim Mi-yeon
Kim Mi-yeon (born October 20, 1979) is a South Korean curler. She was the skip of the South Korean National Women's Curling Team at the 2002 and 2009 World Curling Championships. Career Kim skipped the Korean team to a Pacific Curling Championships gold medal in 2001, earning the Korean team their first ever appearance at the World Curling Championships. 2005 World Women's Curling Championship
The 2005 World Women's Curling Championship was held from March 19–27, 2005 at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley, Scotland. The tournament was the first since the 1988 event to be held separately from the 2005 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. The tournament was plagued with problems from the start. Ice conditions were not the best, due to a number of factors, including the arena being located adjacent to a swimming pool. Also, de-ionized water, a standard at major events was not used for the first draws, due to a refusal by the organising committee to pay for it. These ice issues led to the postponement of the fourth draw. Also, ticket prices were very expensive, leading to poor attendance numbers. Due to a dispute with volunteers who wanted to be paid, time clocks were not used. This meant that the on-ice umpire was allowed to pull rocks out of a game as a penalty for slow play.
