European Parliament
The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. David Casa (born 16 November 1968 in Valletta) is a Maltese politician and Member of the European Parliament. He is Malta's longest serving MEP, having served since June 2004. As a member of the Nationalist Party in Malta, he belongs to the European People's Party. Casa has been described by Politico as a key MEP for his work as co-rapporteur on the Social Climate Fund. Anton Tabone (born 1937) is a Maltese politician. Appointed the first Minister for Gozo Affairs in 1987 he was re-appointed in the same portfolio in 1992, a post he held up to 1996. Prof. Joe Friggieri (born 1946) is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Malta, poet, playwright and theatre director. Biography Friggieri was the first professor of philosophy on the University of Malta faculty not to be a Catholic priest and succeeded Peter Serracino Inglott in 1996 upon the latter's retirement. He holds doctorates from the University of Milan (Cattolica) and The University of Oxford.
