Donar (basketball Club)
Donar, also known as Donar Groningen, is a professional basketball club based in Groningen, Netherlands. The club competes in the BNXT League and its home arena is MartiniPlaza, which has a seating capacity of 4,350 people. Donar is one of the traditional first division clubs along with Den Bosch, as it entered the league years ago. The club won the national DBL championship seven times; in 1982, 2004, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Donar was runner-up in the seasons: 1998, 2006, 2011, 2015. There are also six Dutch Cups in the honor list of Donar; they won the cup in 2005, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. Otis Loyd
Otis Loyd is an American basketball coach and former professional basketball player. Career A Brooklyn native, Loyd played basketball at the City College of New York. He started his professional career in 1974 in Helsingborg, Sweden. He spent two years there, then moved to Lugi Basketbollklubb in Lund, Sweden, for one year. Loyd returned to Helsingborg for another year and then went back to the United States to finish his college degree. During the 1979–80 season he played in Sweden again, this time with Malbas BBK in the city of Malmö. In 1980–81, he served as Malbas' player-coach. Loyd joined BMS Skovlunde of Denmark for the 1981–82 season, where he served as player-coach, while at the same time coaching the women's team. Bergen op Zoom (; called ''Berrege'' in the local dialect) is a municipality and a city located in the south of the Netherlands. Etymology The city was built on a place where two types of soil meet: sandy soil and marine clay. The sandy soil pushed against the marine clay, accumulating and forming hills over several centuries. People called those hills the ''Brabantse Wal'', literally meaning "ramparts of Brabant". ''Zoom'' refers to the border of these ramparts and ''bergen'' in Dutch means mountains or hills. Arik Shivek ( he, אריק שיבק) is an Israeli professional basketball head coach. Shivek is the former head coach of the senior Israeli national basketball team, serving from 2009 to 2014, succeeding Zvi Sherf. Amsterdam Basketball was a Dutch professional basketball club from the city of Amsterdam, established in 1995 and dissolved in 2011. The club won the Dutch championship seven times and the Dutch Cup five times. Den Helder () is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Den Helder occupies the northernmost point of the North Holland peninsula. Almere Pioneers is a Dutch amateur basketball team based in Almere. The team plays in the Promotiedivisie, the Dutch second tier league. History The club was founded in 1999 as a professional basketball club named BC Omniworld Almere and participated in the top-tier Eredivisie. The team played its home games in the Topsportcentrum Almere. The 2002–03 season was the best season in Almere's history, as the team reached the Eredivisie finals. In these finals Omniworld lost 0–4 to Amsterdam. In January 2008, the team went bankrupt and was forced to leave the Eredivisie.
