The 2003 World Men's Handball Championship took place in Portugal from 20 January to 2 February 2003. It was the 18th edition of the World Championship in team handball and Croatia won the championship. Carlos Pérez (handballer)
Carlos Pérez (born 26 August 1971 in Havana) is a retired Cuban-Hungary, Hungarian team handball, handball player, who played for Veszprém KC and the Hungary men's national handball team, Hungarian national team. Career He was born in Havana and spent his Cuban years by local team Ciudad Havana. He signed to Hungarian top club MKB Veszprém KC in 1997 and since then spent all the seasons with the club. He obtained Hungarian citizenship in 1999 and made his debut for the national team in 2002 against Slovenia men's national handball team, Slovenia. He represented Hungary at the 2003 World Men's Handball Championship, 2003 World Championship, where he showed his exceptional shooting skills and finished first on the goalscoring charts with 64 goals. Mirza Džomba
Mirza Džomba (born 28 February 1977) is a Croatian former professional handball player, World champion in 2003 and Olympic champion in 2004. He played for RK Zamet, Badel 1862 Zagreb, Fotex Veszprém, BM Ciudad Real and Vive Targi Kielce before retiring in 2011. He was also a member of the Croatia national team from 1997 to 2008. He holds the national team's top goal scorer record with 719 goals. He was part of the golden generation that won the 2003 World Championship and 2004 Summer Olympics. He is noted by many critics as one of the best right wings ever. In 2013 Džomba was awarded the best right wing in the history of the EHF Champions League by the European Handball Federation. Daniel Narcisse
Daniel Narcisse (born 16 December 1979) is a retired French handball player and French international from 2000 to 2017. He is a double Olympic champion, quadruple World champion and triple European champion, one of the most awarded French team handball players with nine international titles. He progresses to the position of half-center or rear left. In 2012, with an exceptional year both in the French team ( Olympic title) and in the club ( Champions League, German championship and German cup), he was voted best handball player of the year 2012 by the International Handball Federation. Antonio Carlos Ortega Pérez (born 14 July 1971) is a former Spanish handball player who is the current head coach of FC Barcelona. Altice Arena (formerly MEO Arena; also referred to by its original name, Pavilhão Atlântico) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Lisbon, Portugal. Póvoa De Varzim
Póvoa de Varzim (, ) is a Portuguese city in Northern Portugal and sub-region of Greater Porto, from its city centre. It sits in a sandy coastal plain, a cuspate foreland, halfway between the Minho and Douro rivers. In 2001, there were 63,470 inhabitants, with 42,396 living in the city proper. Caminha () is a municipality in the north-west of Portugal, 21 km north from Viana do Castelo, located in the Viana do Castelo District. The population in 2011 was 16,684, in an area of 136.52 km².
