2003 OFC U-17 Championship
The 2003 OFC U-17 Championship was the 10th edition of the OFC's under-17 Championship. It was held in American Samoa, Australia and New Caledonia. The winning side qualified for the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Finland. Australia won their ninth (and third consecutive) title after beating New Caledonia 7–1 over two legs in the final. Host selection Solomon Islands were originally selected as the host nation for Group B, but agreed to move the Group to Australia due to safety concerns. Australia and New Caledonia agreed to stage both legs of the final in New Caledonia. Qualification All member teams qualified automatically. Papua New Guinea withdrew before the tournament began. Richard "Richie" Cardozo (born 28 March 1986 in Australia) is an Australian football (soccer) player who plays in the position of attacking midfielder or striker. He currently plays for Mt Druitt Town Rangers. Early life Cardozo was born in Sydney, Australia. He was born to his Uruguayan father and his Argentinian mother. Maroochydore
Maroochydore ( ) is a coastal town in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. The town was subdivided from the Cotton Tree reserve by Surveyor Thomas O'Connor in 1903. The land was acquired from William Pettigrew who had a timber depot at what is now Wharf Street. Its name comes from the Yuggera language word ''Muru-kutchi'', meaning red-bill and referring to the black swan, which is commonly seen in the area. Maroochydore is a major commercial area of the Sunshine Coast with most shopping precincts located in the central business district. Maciu Samaidrawa Dunadamu (born 14 June 1986) is a Fijian footballer, who currently plays for Savusavu in the Fiji Senior League. Career Dunadamu started his soccer career in the Labasa Sangam Primary School. After graduating, he left Labasa and joined tertiary studies in the University of the South Pacific. Lencie Fred (born 21 March 1968) is the current Referee Development Officer of the Vanuatu Football Federation. Fred is a former international association football referee from Vanuatu. He was the first referee from his country to be included on the FIFA list of referees. Fred started refereeing at a young age and was named as an assistant referee for the 1996 Summer Olympics. He assisted Pierluigi Collina in the final of that competition between Nigeria and Argentina, allowing a controversial late winning goal for Nigeria. Two years later, he was selected to be an assistant at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and officiated five games during the tournament, including the third place match between Netherlands and Croatia. Peter O'Leary (born 3 March 1972) is a New Zealand former Association football referee, previously of Wellington but now is residing and working in Hamilton.
