2003 East Asian Football Championship
The 2003 East Asian Football Championship was the 1st edition of the East Asian Football Championship, an international football tournament for East Asian countries and territories organized by the EAFF. The qualifiers were held in February and March 2003 in Hong Kong and the final was held in December 2003 in Japan. South Korea won the inaugural championship. China PR, South Korea, and Japan were the direct finalists. The fourth finalist spot was competed among Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia. Hong Kong won the qualifiers. Zhao Junzhe
Zhao Junzhe (; born 19 April 1979) is a retired Chinese footballer who predominantly played for Liaoning F.C. in the Chinese Super League. Club career Zhao Junzhe was promoted to Liaoning F.C.'s first team from the club's youth academy and made his debut in the 1998 season. He continued to be a vital member for Liaoning that season when he aided them to being runners-up and the Chinese FA Cup. He was soon promoted to club captain and won the Chinese Football Association Player of the Year award in 2004. The following seasons saw the club's fortunes fall and Zhao unfortunately led the team to relegation to the second tier at the end of the 2008 season. Despite this setback, he remained with the team and immediately led Liaoning back up to the top tier when they won the second tier title in the 2009 season. Sichuan Guancheng
Sichuan First City () is a defunct Chinese football club, which was located in Chengdu, Sichuan where they played in the Chengdu Sports Centre. They were founded in 1953 and spent a large part of their history within the top tier of Chinese football until on November 8, 1993 they became a fully professional unit and took part in China's inaugural season of professional football in the 1994 Chinese Jia-A League season. After being the flagship of western Chinese football the club was sold to the Dahe Group in 2002, however the new owners were found to be under the influence of another Chinese football team Dalian Shide. Zhao Xuri
Zhao Xuri (; born 3 December 1985) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays for Sichuan Jiuniu in the China League One division. Club career While Zhao Xuri started his football career with second tier side Dalian Sidelong, he did not make an impact in the squad; however, top tier side Sichuan First City took an interest within the youngster. During the 2003 league season, he quickly rose to prominence and immediately established himself as an integral member within the team by playing in 27 league games and scoring two goals in his debut season. Shanghai Shenhua F.C. () is a Chinese professional football club that participates in the Chinese Super League under license from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). Du Wei (footballer)
Du Wei (; ; born 9 February 1982) is a Chinese footballer. He represented the Chinese national team in their participation in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. This saw foreign interests come from Scottish Premier League side Celtic in the form of a loan, however an extension to the loan was never taken up and he returned to Shanghai Shenhua where he captained them for several seasons before joining Hangzhou Greentown and Shandong Luneng as well as captaining his national team in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. Liu Jindong
Liu Jindong () (December 9, 1981 in Qingdao, Shandong) is a former Chinese international football player who played as a versatile player capable of playing in defense or midfield. With Shandong Luneng he had won several domestic league and cup trophies with them before becoming the team's captain at the start of the 2010 league season where he would go on to lead the team to the league title. Han Wenhai (; born 28 January 1971) is a former Chinese football goalkeeper, and the current goalkeeping coach of China League Two club Shenzhen Pengcheng. The Chinese football goalkeeper Han Wenxia is his sister. Zhang Yaokun
Zhang Yaokun (; born 17 April 1981) is a retired Chinese footballer. Club career Zhang Yaokun started his football career in 1998 with Dalian Shide; however, due to an ankle fracture, he struggled to establish himself within the team and it was only once he overcame his long term injury did he start to become a regular. He later became an integral member of the defense and helped Dalian in their dominance within Chinese football by winning league titles in the 2001 season and the 2002 season as well as the Chinese FA Cup in 2001.
