Armenian Premier League
The Armenian Premier League ( hy, VBET Հայաստանի Պրեմիեր Լիգա, known as the VBET Armenian Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the top association football, football competition in Armenia. From 1936 to 1991, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the USSR. After independence, the Football Federation of Armenia has been the unit in charge. Over the years, the league has evolved into a small league consisting of ten teams. The winner of the league is awarded a spot in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. FC Ararat Yerevan
Football Club Ararat Yerevan ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Արարատ Երևան), commonly known as Ararat Yerevan, is an Armenian association football, football club based in Yerevan that plays in the Armenian Premier League. Since 1999, the club is owned by the Switzerland Armenian businessmen Vartan Sirmakes. The badge shows a white eagle standing on a football and is a reference to the club nickname. The badge also displays the name of Ararat in both Latin (Ararat) and Armenian (ԱՐԱՐԱՏ) text. History In 1935, a football team was established in Yerevan by Spartak sports society. The first time the team participated in the competitions of the national level. The first trophy of the club was the Armenian Cup, Armenian SSR Cup in 1940. The 2003 Armenian Cup was the 12th edition of the Armenian Cup, a football competition. In 2003, the tournament had 17 participants, out of which 6 were reserve teams. The 2003 Armenian First League is the 13th season of the Armenian First League. It started on 1 May and ended 14 November. FC Kilikia from Yerevan became the league champions, and were promoted to the 2004 Armenian Premier League. The 2004 Armenian First League season started on 1 May 2004. The last matches were played on 15 November 2004. Pyunik-2 became the league champions, but because they are a reserve team they were unable to promote to the Armenian Premier League. As a result, the second placed team Lernayin Artsakh FC was given promotion. 2004–05 UEFA Cup
The 2004–05 UEFA Cup was the 34th edition of the UEFA Cup. The format of the competition had changed from previous seasons, replacing that from the previous one after the abolition of the Cup Winners' Cup in 1999; an extra qualifying round was introduced, as was a group phase after the first round. The group stage operated in a single round-robin format consisting of eight groups of five teams, each team plays two games at home and two away and the top three finishers of each group progress to the knock-out round, joining the eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Champions League group stage. The tournament was won by PFC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow, coming from behind in the final against Sporting CP, in whose home stadium the match was played. Lernayin Artsakh FC ( hy, Լեռնային Արցախ Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ) is an association football club based in unrecognized Stepanakert, Artsakh Republic but is registered in the town of Sisian, Syunik Province, Armenia. The club was founded in 1927 in Soviet Azerbaijan and its current name translates from Armenian as "''Mountainous Artsakh''". History The club was founded in 1927 under the name ''Dinamo Stepanakert''. In 1960, the name was changed to ''Karabakh'' and remained by that name until 1989 when it was renamed ''Artsakh''. During the years between 1992 and 1995 they were unable to participate in any competition due to the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. FC Lernagorts Kapan
FC Lernagorts Kapan ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Լեռնագործ Կապան), is a defunct Armenian football club from Kapan, Syunik Province. History Lernagorts Kapan was founded in 1963 during the Soviet period. After the independence of Armenia, the club participated in the first Armenian football competition after the split-up from the Soviet Union under the name Syunik Kapan. After the regular competition, they qualified for the championship stage, where they finished in 6th position, thus being qualified for the highest level in the 1993 season. However, they withdrew before the start of the season. Since then they have been up and down between the two divisions of the Armenian football league system. In 2004, Lernagorts Kapan attempted to merge with Ararat Yerevan, but the merger failed.
