2002 President's Cup
The 2002 President's Cup was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts in Tashkent in Uzbekistan and was part of the International Series of the 2002 ATP Tour. The tournament ran from 9 September through 14 September 2002. Third-seeded Yevgeny Kafelnikov won the singles title. A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. The ATP Tashkent Open is a defunct ATP Tour affiliated men's tennis tournament played from 1997 to 2002. It was held in Tashkent in Uzbekistan and was played on outdoor hard courts. Although no ATP 250 level tournaments have been played in Tashkent since then, there is, since 2008, a Challenger event played in Tashkent, the Tashkent Challenger. The 2002 Tashkent Open was a women's tennis tournament played on hard courts at the Tashkent Tennis Center in Tashkent, Uzbekistan that was part of the Tier IV category of the 2002 WTA Tour. Martin Verkerk
Martin Willem Verkerk (born 31 October 1978) is a retired professional Dutch tennis player. He reached the final of the 2003 French Open – Men's singles, French Open in 2003 and achieved a career-high singles ranking of No. 14 in September 2003. During his career he won two ATP singles titles. Early life Verkerk started playing tennis at the age of seven, playing in local tournaments and training with his parents. He played in a tennis facility in his home city of Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands, where his talent was discovered by local coaches, and he soon had the opportunity to train with many better players. Raemon Sluiter
Raemon Sluiter (born 13 April 1978) is a Dutch former professional tennis player and current coach. His career-high ATP singles ranking is World No. 46, achieved in February 2003. Though he achieved only limited success during his professional career, Sluiter reached four ATP finals in his native Netherlands, and also reached the semi-finals of the Davis Cup with the Dutch team in 2001. He announced his retirement in February 2008, which took effect after he played his home event in Rotterdam. Vladimir Nikolayevich Voltchkov ( be, Уладзімір Мікалаевіч Валчкоў, ''Uładzimir Mikałajevič Vałčkoŭ''; russian: Владимир Николаевич Волчков; born April 7, 1978) is a Belarusian former professional tennis player. Voltchkov reached the semifinals at the 2000 Wimbledon Championships, where, as a qualifier, he lost to Pete Sampras in straight sets. ATP International Series
The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1997 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. Tennis
Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles).
