2002 Maine Black Bears Football Team
The 2002 Maine Black Bears football team represented the University of Maine during the 2002 NCAA Division I-AA football season. It was the program's 111th season and they finished in a tie as Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) co-champions with Northeastern. The Black Bears earned a berth into the 16-team Division I-AA playoffs, but lost in the quarterfinals to Georgia Southern, 7–31. Maine was led by 10th-year head coach Jack Cosgrove. Jack Cosgrove (American Football)
Jack Cosgrove (born October 30, 1956) is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at Colby College. Cosgrove served as the head football coach at the University of Maine from 1993 to 2015. He is an alumnus of Maine and played college football as a quarterback on the Maine Black Bears football team. Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium is a 17,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Hadley, Massachusetts, on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. It has been the Massachusetts Minutemen football team's home stadium since 1965, with the exception of 2012 and 2013, when the team played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
