2002 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Women's Short Race
The Women's short race at the 2002 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held at the Leopardstown Racecourse near Dublin, Ireland, on March 24, 2002. Reports of the event were given in ''The New York Times'', in the Herald, and for the IAAF. Complete results for individuals, for teams, medallists, and the results of British athletes who took part were published. World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Priscah Jepleting Cherono, née Ngetich (born 27 June 1980) is a Kenyan professional runner who specialises in the 5000 metres and cross-country running. She represented Kenya in the 5000 m at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is the Kenyan record holder over the two miles distance. She has represented Kenya twice at the World Championships in Athletics, winning the bronze medal in the 5000 m in 2007. She was the silver medallist in the event at the 2004 African Championships in Athletics.
