2002 Hamburg Masters – Singles
Roger Federer defeated Marat Safin in the final, 6–1, 6–3, 6–4 to win the singles tennis title at the 2002 Hamburg Masters. It was his first Masters title and the first of an eventual 28 Masters titles. With the win, Federer entered the top ten in rankings for the first time. Petros "Pete" Sampras ( el, Πέτρος Σάμπρας; born August 12, 1971) is an American former world No. 1 tennis player. His professional career began in 1988 and ended at the 2002 US Open, which he won, defeating longtime rival Andre Agassi in the final. Mark Anthony Philippoussis ( ; born 7 November 1976) is an Australian former professional tennis player of Greek and Italian descent.
