2001–02 Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. Season
The 2001–02 season was the 103rd season of competitive league football in the history of English football club Wolverhampton Wanderers. They played the season in the second tier of the English football system, the Football League First Division. The season proved a notable disappointment for the club after being denied promotion in the play-offs. The team had sat in the automatic promotion spots for the majority of the campaign, but a late slump in form saw local rivals West Bromwich Albion pip them to second place. Defeat to Norwich City in the semi-finals then ended their hopes of returning to the top flight for the first time since 1984. The club had spent in excess of £11 million before and during the season to try to achieve promotion, in this, manager Dave Jones' first full season in charge. Wolverhampton () is a city, metropolitan borough and administrative centre in the West Midlands, England. The population size has increased by 5.7%, from around 249,500 in 2011 to 263,700 in 2021. People from the city are called "Wulfrunians". Historically part of Staffordshire, the city grew initially as a market town specialising in the wool trade. In the Industrial Revolution, it became a major centre for coal mining, steel production, lock making, and the manufacture of cars and motorcycles. Western European Summer Time (WEST, UTC+01:00) is a summer daylight saving time scheme, 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and Coordinated Universal Time. Cédric Roussel
Cédric Roussel (born 6 January 1978) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Early career In 1997, Roussel took part in the FIFA World Youth Championship. In the season that followed the tournament, he was promoted to the Gent senior team. Coventry City Roussel signed a season-long loan deal for Premier League club Coventry City on 12 October 1999. He made his debut on 16 October, during the 4–1 win over Newcastle United, coming on as a late substitute for Gary McAllister. On 22 November 1999 he scored his first goal for the club, a header against Aston Villa at Highfield Road. Oswestry ( ; ) is a market town, civil parish and historic railway town in Shropshire, England, close to the Welsh border. It is at the junction of the A5, A483 and A495 roads. Park Hall (football Ground)
Park Hall Stadium is a football stadium to the north-east of Oswestry, Shropshire, England. It was opened by Shropshire County Council in 1993, originally as the home of Oswestry Town. In 2003, Oswestry Town merged with Total Network Solutions F.C. (TNS) to form current Cymru Premier team The New Saints. The newly merged club moved away from Park Hall to Total Network Solutions' Recreation Ground. Following a short period of abandonment, the site was purchased from the council by Mike Harris with a view to redevelopment and The New Saints moving back to the ground. The New Saints started to use Park Hall as their home ground again in 2007, and the ground was further improved so that it was able to host matches in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Shane Tudor
Shane Anthony Tudor (born 10 February 1982) is an English former footballer. He played as a midfielder, primarily in the right wing position. He scored 31 goals in 234 appearances throughout a ten-year career in the Football League. He began his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, before moving to Cambridge United in November 2001. He played for the club in the Football League Trophy final in 2002, but severe financial difficulties caused the club to drop from the Second Division into the Conference National. He signed with Leyton Orient in May 2005, and helped the club win promotion out of League Two in 2005–06. Moving on to Port Vale in May 2007, injuries began to disrupt his career, leaving him unable to play for Shrewsbury Town despite him joining the club on loan. Darren Shaun Bazeley (born 5 October 1972) is an English-New Zealand football coach and former player. He played as either a right full back or right-sided midfielder. He is currently head coach of the New Zealand U20 team and interim head coach of the national and Olympic sides. Playing career Watford Bazeley was born in Northampton, England, and began playing football at a young age with local team Northampton Orion. Telford () is a town in the borough of Telford and Wrekin and ceremonial county of Shropshire, England, about east of Shrewsbury, south west of Stafford, north west of Wolverhampton and from Birmingham in the same direction. Carl Robinson (born 13 October 1976) is a retired Welsh international footballer who played as a central midfielder. He is currently the assistant coach for Major League Soccer club D.C. United. Club career Wolverhampton Wanderers Robinson started his career as a trainee with Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was promoted to the first-team for the 1995–96 season.
