2001–02 England Hockey League Season
The 2001–02 English Hockey League season took place from September 2001 until May 2002. The men's title was won by Reading with the women's title going to Slough. There were no playoffs to determine champions after the regular season but there was a competition for the top four clubs called the Premiership tournament which culminated with men's & women's finals on 6 May. The Men's Cup was won by Cannock and the Women's Cup was won by Ipswich. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. Leicester Hockey Club
Leicester City Hockey Club is a professional field hockey club based in Leicester, England, who play their home games at St. Margaret's Pastures. The ladies side has produced a number of international players and is recognised as one of the most successful clubs in England having won six league titles. Teams The ladies team was established in 1894 and the men's section was launched in 2018. The club currently fields five ladies teams, two men's teams and various youth teams. The ladies 1st XI play in the Women's England Hockey League. The men's teams, and the remainder of the ladies teams, play in the Midland Regional Hockey Association, Midlands League. The Academy Leicester City Hockey Club recently launched their junior academy with training, matches and tournaments for junior players aged 6-18. Hounslow Hockey Club
Hounslow Hockey Club was a field hockey club based at Duke's Meadows, Chiswick, West London and was formed in 1901, initially playing at a variety of locations in the Hounslow Area until becoming a section of Hounslow Cricket and Sports Club, sited at Church Meadow in Hounslow West, circa 1923. The Ladies Hockey club formally became a member of Hounslow Cricket and Sports Club in 1925. In 1936 the club merged with the Brondesbury Club, enabling access to fixtures with the leading teams in the sport. The resulting Hounslow and Brondesbury continued playing, with great success, until being disbanded during World War 2. The club restarted in 1945-46 as Hounslow Hockey Club, continuing to be based at Church Meadow until 1993, when the Club separated from Hounslow Cricket and Sports Club and relocated to Duke's Meadow, where a purpose built water based synthetic pitch had been constructed. Bradford is a city status in the United Kingdom, city and the administrative centre of the City of Bradford district in West Yorkshire, England. Craig Parnham
Craig Parnham (born 13 July 1973 in Bridgnorth, Shropshire) is an English field hockey defender and coach. He represented Great Britain in two Summer Olympics in 2000 and 2004, and played club hockey for Stourport, Bridgnorth and Cannock. Parnham made his debut for Great Britain in 2000, shortly before being included in the team for the 2000 Summer Olympics. The following year he made his debut for England, where he was appointed captain. He sustained a near-fatal throat injury in 2002, when he was caught in the throat by a flying stick while playing for England in Malaysia. His larynx required rebuilding. In total, Parnham won 64 caps for Great Britain and 51 for England. National Hockey Stadium (Milton Keynes)
The National Hockey Stadium was a sports stadium in Milton Keynes with a nominal capacity of around 4,000 seats: this was temporarily increased to 9,000 between 2003 and 2007. It was used by England Hockey as their national stadium from 1995 to 2003 and then as a professional football stadium by Wimbledon FC, rebranded as Milton Keynes Dons in 2004. In summer 2007, the Dons relocated to the new Stadium MK, near Bletchley, leaving the hockey stadium without a tenant. It was unused for two years and, in late 2009, demolition began in preparation for the redevelopment of the site into the new Network Rail headquarters which became operational in July 2012. Havant Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Havant, Hampshire, England. The club was established in 1907. The men's 1st XI play in the National Men's Conference West. The club fields men's teams and ladies' teams as well as a junior section teams. Many of the club's players have gone on to earn international caps at both senior and junior level.
