2001–02 Cypriot Fourth Division
The 2001–02 Cypriot Fourth Division was the 17th season of the Cypriot fourth-level football league. AEM Mesogis won their 1st title. Format Fifteen teams participated in the 2001–02 Cypriot Fourth Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first three teams were promoted to the 2002–03 Cypriot Third Division and the last four teams were relegated to regional leagues. Point system Teams received three points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. Cypriot Fourth Division
The Cypriot Fourth Division ( el, Τέταρτη Κατηγορία) was the fourth tier association football, football league competition in Cyprus, ran by the Cyprus Football Association. Each year, the top finishing teams of the league were promoted to the Cypriot Third Division, and the lowest finishing teams were relegated to the amateur leagues. History The Cypriot Fourth Division started the 1985–86 football season as the fourth level of the Cypriot football. The decision was taken by CFA on 23 July 1985. The first eight seasons the championship was split into three or four geographical groups, representing the Districts of Cyprus. 2001–02 Cypriot Cup
The 2001–02 Cypriot Cup was the 60th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 50 clubs entered the competition. It began on 7 November 2001 with the preliminary round and concluded on 11 May 2002 with the final which was held at GSP Stadium. Anorthosis won their 8th Cypriot Cup trophy after beating Ethnikos Achna 1–0 in the final. Format In the 2001–02 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division, the Cypriot Second Division, the Cypriot Third Division and 8 of the 14 teams of the Cypriot Fourth Division. The competition consisted of six knock-out rounds. In the preliminary round and in the first round each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results. The 2001–02 Cypriot First Division was the 63rd season of the Cypriot top-level football league. APOEL won their 17th title. Format Fourteen teams participated in the 2001–02 Cypriot First Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The last three teams were relegated to the 2002–03 Cypriot Second Division. The champions ensured their participation in the 2002–03 UEFA Champions League and the runners-up in the 2002–03 UEFA Cup. The teams had to declare their interest to participate in the 2002 UEFA Intertoto Cup before the end of the championship. At the end of the championship, the higher placed team among the interested ones participated in the Intertoto Cup (if they had not secured their participation in any other UEFA competition).
