Central Hockey League
The Central Hockey League (CHL) was a North American mid-level minor professional ice hockey league which operated from 1992 until 2014. It was founded by Ray Miron and Bill Levins and later sold to Global Entertainment Corporation, which operated the league from 2000 to 2013, at which point it was purchased by the individual franchise owners. As of the end of its final season in 2014, three of the 30 National Hockey League teams had affiliations with the CHL: the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Several teams of defunct leagues joined the CHL along its history, including the Southern Hockey League, Western Professional Hockey League and International Hockey League. After two teams suspended operations during the 2014 offseason, the ECHL accepted the remaining seven teams as members in October 2014, meaning the end for the CHL after 22 seasons. The San Angelo Outlaws are a defunct American minor professional ice hockey team that played in the Western Professional Hockey League from 1997 to 2001 and the Central Hockey League in the 2001–02 season. Daniel Joseph Price (born May 13, 1984) is an American entrepreneur and social media personality. He is the co-founder and the former chief executive officer of credit card processing company Gravity Payments. He is the sole shareholder and board member of the company. He gained recognition in 2015 after he raised the minimum salary for employees of his company to $70,000 and lowered his own wage to $70,000 from $1.1 million. Price has been active on social media, especially Twitter, where his posts have been widely shared. Price has been accused of several physical and sexual assaults between 2013 and 2022. After pleading not guilty in May 2022 to misdemeanor charges of assault and reckless driving, he resigned as CEO of Gravity Payments on August 17, 2022. Gatis Tseplis
Gatis Tseplis (born May 1, 1971) is a Latvian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Career Gatis Tseplis arrived to the United States from Riga, Latvia, after spending 12 years playing five seasons of professional hockey in Russia and the Czech Republic. From 1996 to 1997 he played for the Huntsville Channel Cats, the Nashville Nighthawks, and the San Antonio Iguanas. During the 1997 to 1998 season, Tseplis played under Bill McDonald and his Fort Worth Brahmas team, scoring 19 goals and 45 assists for 64 points and was ranked 3rd in the league amongst defenseman in scoring. Due to his scoring abilities, he played a two-game call-up against Detroit Vipers. Scott Hillman (born April 29, 1974) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman. He was most recently the head coach of Frisk Asker in Norway’s Top Men’s Professional Hockey League Career Player Hillman was born in LaSalle, Ontario. Daniel Tetrault (born September 4, 1979) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman, having last played for and was a team captain with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL. Tetrault was originally drafted 91st overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. From 2017 to 2021, he was head coach of the Rapid City Rush, leading the team to a 116–134–25 record over four seasons and never making a playoff appearance. Mike Gorman (ice Hockey)
Michael Thomas Gorman (born November 24, 1947) is an American television play-by-play commentator for the Boston Celtics on NBC Sports Boston. Gorman also did play-by-play, alongside Fran Fraschilla, for NBC for basketball games during the 2016 Summer Olympics. Gorman was a recipient of the 2021 Curt Gowdy Award and was inducted into the media wing of the Basketball Hall of Fame as part of a star-studded 2021 class that included one of Gorman's favorite players in Paul Pierce. Ray Miron President's Cup
The Ray Miron President's Cup is a trophy that was awarded to the playoff champion of the Central Hockey League (CHL) from 2002 until 2014, when the remaining CHL teams joined the ECHL. The trophy was known as The William "Bill" Levins Memorial Cup from 1992 until 2000, when the honour was renamed the Ray Miron Cup. (Bill Levins and Ray Miron being the co-founders of the CHL). From 1997-2001, the WPHL's playoff champion was awarded the "President's Cup", so when the CHL and the Western Professional Hockey League merged following their 2000-01 seasons, the CHL combined the traditions of the two leagues by renaming the trophy the "Ray Miron President's Cup". The "Playoff Most Valuable Player" award was also given out as part of the Ray Miron President's Cup Championship ceremonies. New Mexico Scorpions
The New Mexico Scorpions were a Central Hockey League (CHL) team located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The team was established in 1996 as a part of the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL). In 2001, the WPHL merged with the CHL. On July 2, 2009, the Scorpions ceased operations. The Scorpions' home arena during their WPHL and early CHL days was the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The team suspended operations for the 2005-06 season, then moved to the new Santa Ana Star Center, in the neighbouring city of Rio Rancho, for the 2006-07 season. Lubbock Cotton Kings
The Lubbock Cotton Kings were a professional ice hockey team formerly based in Lubbock, Texas as members of the Western Professional Hockey League and the Central Hockey League. The team played home games at City Bank Coliseum. History The Lubbock Cotton Kings played their first game in Lubbock Municipal Coliseum (later City Bank Coliseum) in October 1999.
