2001 Challenge Cup
The 2001 Challenge Cup (officially known as the 2001 Silk Cut Challenge Cup for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby league football tournament which began its preliminary stages in December 2000 and ended with the final on 28 April 2001. Bradford Bulls were the reigning champions, following their 24–18 victory over Leeds Rhinos in the 2000 Challenge Cup at Murrayfield Stadium. Round 1 Ties were scheduled to be played over the weekend of 2–3 December 2000, although two matches did not take place until 9 and 16 December. Castleford is a town within the City of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. It had a population of 45,106 at a 2021 population estimate. Rochdale Mayfield
Rochdale Mayfield are an amateur rugby league football club from Castleton, Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The club currently competes in the top division of the National Conference League. The club also operates academy teams who are known collectively as Rochdale Mayfield Mustangs. History ''Mayfield ARLFC'' were formed in 1958. The club's name came from the Mayfield Hotel in Rochdale where they were originally based. After a number of years, the club moved to the Old Bridge Inn, and played at Balderstone Park and Springhill. Hunslet () is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is southeast of the city centre and has an industrial past. It is situated in the Hunslet and Riverside ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds Central parliamentary constituency. The population of the previous City and Hunslet council ward at the 2011 census was 33,705. Normanton is an amateur rugby league club based in Normanton, a small town within the City of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. The club joined the Northern Union in 1898–99 and played for a total of five seasons until 1905–06. They played at the Mopsey Garth ground. The club started out as founder members of the Yorkshire Senior Competition Division 2 (East), and moved as the competition structures changed. Millom R.L.F.C. is an amateur rugby league club based in the town of Millom in Cumbria. It is the oldest amateur rugby league club in the world, having been founded in 1873. History Founded as a rugby union club, the club decided to change codes to Northern Union rugby in July 1897. After winning the Lancashire Second Competition in 1897–98 the club was promoted to the Lancashire Senior Competition in 1898. Wigan St Judes are an amateur rugby league football club from Wigan, Greater Manchester. The club currently competes in the National Conference League. The club also operates a number of academy teams. History Wigan St Judes were formed in 1980 and began with just 20 child aged players. The club now has some 300 players from age 7 through to adults. Six youth teams play in the National Youth League. In 1991, the club moved to its present location in the Poolstock area of Wigan and operates three pitches and a clubhouse.
