First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. A significant omission of the ICC ruling was any attempt to define first-class cricket retrospectively. Jason Arnberger
Jason Lee Arnberger (born 18 November 1972 in Penrith, New South Wales) is an Australian first-class cricketer who played for the Victorian Bushrangers and New South Wales Blues in Australian domestic cricket. He was a right-handed opening batsman. Arnberger's nickname is "Cheese". Arnberger started his career with NSW but in 1997-98 he moved to Victoria as the presence of Mark Taylor and Michael Slater at the top of the order had made it difficult for him to get a game. Aged 31, he suffered a back injury which nearly ended his career but he came back strongly, scoring 639 runs with three hundreds and repeated his good performance with 721 at 45.06 the following season as he went on to win the Player of the Year award. His highest First Class score came against New South Wales in Lismore, making 239 not out. He finished his career in seventh place on Victoria's leading run getters with 5505 at 42.01. Darren Berry
Darren Shane Berry (born 10 December 1969) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who was known for his sharp skills as a wicketkeeper, first with South Australia and then Victoria in the Sheffield Shield and ING Cup domestic competitions. He led the Redbacks to the first premiership win in 2010 of the BBL. Berry was the head coach of the South Australia cricket team for 5 years. Including the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL Tournament. Matthew Elliott (cricketer)
Matthew Thomas Gray Elliott (born 28 September 1971) is a former cricketer from Australia, who played as a left-handed opening batsman. Beginnings with Victoria After he made his debut for Victoria in the 1992–1993 season, he soon established himself as one of the top opening batsmen in Australian domestic cricket, before progressing his way through to the Bendigo and District Cricket Association playing for the Bendigo Cricket Club in his role as an opening batsman. Test career Elliott was called up to the Australian national team in the 1996–97 season, making his Test debut against the West Indies in November 1996. Unfortunately for Elliott, in just his second Test match he was injured in a mid-pitch collision with teammate Mark Waugh, resulting in the need for knee surgery. Michael Llewellyn Lewis (born 29 June 1974) is an Australian cricketer. Grade career and state career Born in Greensborough, Victoria, Lewis was a grade cricketer who played for Northcote and the Victorian Bushrangers gave him his first-class debut in the 1999/2000 season. Over the next few years, he re-modelled his action and considerably improved his game, and had outstanding seasons in 2002/03, 2003/04 (the season in which Victoria won the Pura Cup) and 2004/05. He was one of two Australian overseas players for Durham CCC in 2006 (the other was Jimmy Maher, brought back on the back of success as a back-up in 2005. Clinton Terrence Perren (born 22 February 1975) is a former Australian first-class cricketer who played for Queensland. He was a right-handed middle order batsman. Perren was a graduate of the Australian cricket academy in 1995 but had to wait until the 1998–99 season to make his first-class debut. He was named Pura Cup player of the Year in 2002–03 and was rewarded by being selected to play for Australia A against South Africa A. Ashley Noffke
Ashley Allan Noffke (born 30 April 1977) is a former Australian professional cricketer who played domestically for Queensland (1998–2009) and Western Australia (2009–2010). Noffke, who primarily played as a right-arm fast-medium bowler, also made three appearances for the Australian national side. Noffke made his first-class debut on 27 March 1999 for the Australian Cricket Academy XI against the Zimbabwe Cricket Academy XI in Harare. In a match in which the Australians dominated, Noffke claimed 1/5 off 2 overs in the first innings and 2/10 off 6 overs in the second. The South Australia cricket team, officially named the West End Redbacks, is an Australian men's professional first-class cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia. The Redbacks play their home matches at Adelaide Oval and are the state cricket team for South Australia, representing the state in the Sheffield Shield competition and the limited overs Marsh One-Day Cup. Western Australia Cricket Team
The Western Australian Men’s cricket team, formerly nicknamed the Western Warriors, represent the Australian state of Western Australia in Australian domestic cricket.
