2000 FIVB World Grand Prix
The 2000 FIVB World Grand Prix was the eighth women's volleyball tournament of its kind. It was held over four weeks in three countries and six cities throughout Asia: Hong Kong, Thailand, PR China, Chinese Taipei and Malaysia, cumulating with the final round at Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines, from 24 to 27 August 2000. Lyubov Sokolova (volleyball)
Lyubov Vladimirovna Sokolova (russian: Любо́вь Влади́мировна Соколо́ва (Шашко́ва), also known as Lyubov Kılıç and formerly known as Lyubov Shashkova, born 4 December 1977) is a retired Russian volleyball player. She was a member of the national team that won the gold medals at 2006 and 2010 World Championship in Japan and the silver medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Personal life She married Turkish former volleyball player Aytaç Kılıç when she was playing for Eczacıbaşı Istanbul. She has a son from her ex-husband. She has Turkish as well as Russian citizenship. Zoila Barros
Zoila Barros Fernández (born 6 August 1979) is a retired Cuban female volleyball player who played as a middle blocker. She played for the Cuban women's national volleyball team, and helped the team win a gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics. Barros was named Best Spiker at the 2005 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship in Port of Spain, where Cuba was defeated in the final by title defender USA. Mirka Francia Vasconcelos (born 14 February 1975, in Villa Clara) is a Cuban-Italian volleyball player who has won two Olympic gold medals with the Cuba women's national volleyball team. At 1.84 meters (6 ft) tall, she played as a blocker before becoming a hitter in 2004. Life and career Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, Francia first played volleyball at age ten and joined the junior national team in Havana four years later. With the national team she won two gold medals, at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Regla Torres Herrera (born February 12, 1975 in Havana) is a Cuban volleyball player who has won three Olympic gold medals with her first being at the young, for volleyball, age of 17. She has played on the international circuit since she was 14. Regla Maritza Bell MacKenzie (July 6, 1970 in Havana) is a volleyball player from Cuba who won the gold medal three times at the Olympic Games from 1992–2000, and the World Championship in 1998 with the Cuban national team. Mireya Luis
Alejandrina Mireya Luis Hernández, often referred to as Mireya (born August 25, 1967 in Camagüey) is a retired Cuban volleyball player. Life At the age of 10 she started playing volleyball. At 16, Mireya joined the Cuban national team for the 1983 Pan-American Games, in which Cuba took first place. She would play with them again in the 1987 Games, and Cuba would again win the tournament. After a brief hiatus due to injury, she resumed play in 1990 at the World Championship in Japan where the Cuban team finished fourth. In 1991 she led the Cuban team to win its first ever World Cup in Mexico . Mireya won her first Olympic gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992 Games in Barcelona with team mate Regla Bell.
