2018 Telangana Legislative Assembly Election
The Telangana Legislative Assembly election was held in Telangana on 7 December 2018 to constitute the second Legislative Assembly since the formation of the state in 2014. The incumbent Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the Indian National Congress, BJP, Telangana Jana Samithi, and Telugu Desam Party were the main contestants in the election. Four opposition parties in the state, INC, TJS, TDP and CPI announced the formation of a 'Maha Kootami' (Grand Alliance), to defeat the ruling TRS in the elections. However, the Maha Kootami could not win a majority; the TRS won and formed the government once again Background K. The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly or Andhra Pradesh Śāsana Sabha is the lower house of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature. The Legislative Assembly consists of 175 members which are elected by adult universal suffrage under the first-past-the-post system. The duration of the Assembly is five years from the date appointed for its first meeting, unless it is decided to dissolve the Assembly sooner. Adilabad District
Adilabad district is a district located in the northern region of Telangana, India. It is known as the gateway district to South and Central India. The town of Adilabad is its headquarters. The district shares boundaries with Asifabad, Nirmal districts and with the state boundary of Maharashtra. As of 2022, the district is a part of the red corridor. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka
Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka (born 15 June 1961) is an Indian politician who was the second leader of opposition in Telangana Legislative Assembly. He was elected as the member of legislative assembly in 2009 and 2014 elections. He was the chief whip for Government of Andhra Pradesh from 2009 to 2011 and also served as the Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2014. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (born 17 February 1954), often referred to by his initials KCR, is an Indian politician serving as the first and current Chief Minister of Telangana since 2 June 2014. He is the founder and leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, a state party in India. He is known for leading the Telangana movement to achieve statehood for Telangana. Previously, he served as the Union Minister of Labour and Employment from 2004 to 2006. He represents Gajwel constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Telangana. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy
Pocharam Srinivas Reddy Parige is an Indian politician who is the current and 2nd Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from 17 January 2019 and Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from Banswada constituency. He was the Minister of Agriculture (2014-2019) in the government of Telangana. Career Reddy joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1984 from the Indian National Congress (INC). He worked as a minister twice in TDP government. He was with TDP for 27 years before quitting. In 1994, he contested the Banswada constituency as a TDP candidate and won with a majority of over 57,000 votes. He lost in 2004 against Bajireddy Govardhan, the INC candidate. In support of the Telangana Movement, he joined TRS party in March 2011. He also resigned from his MLA seat and TDP membership.
