The 2nd Screen Actors Guild Awards, honoring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 1995, took place on February 24, 1996. The ceremony was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, and was televised live by NBC. The nominees were announced on January 18, 1996. Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium is a multi-purpose convention center at 1855 Main Street in Santa Monica, California, owned by the City of Santa Monica. It was built in 1958 and designed by Welton Becket and as a concert venue, it has a seating capacity of 3,000. Architecture The building was made of reinforced concrete and combined elements of a theater, concert hall, and trade show and convention auditorium. ''Dead Man Walking'' is a 1995 American crime drama film starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, and co-produced and directed by Tim Robbins, who adapted the screenplay from the 1993 non-fiction book of the same name. Sister Helen Prejean (Sarandon) establishes a special relationship with Matthew Poncelet (Penn), a character based on convicted murderers Elmo Patrick Sonnier and Robert Lee Willie.
