2nd Canadian Women's Hockey League All-Star Game
The 2nd Canadian Women's Hockey League All-Star Game, took place on January 23, 2016 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The game aired live on Sportsnet One in Canada as Team Black prevailed by a 5-1 tally against Team White. The event featured three 20-minute periods. Among the players named as participants, Toronto Furies blueliner Sena Suzuki made history as the first international player (born outside of Canada and United States) to participate in the CWHL All-Star Game. Courtney Birchard
Courtney Birchard (born July 14, 1989) competes for the Canadian national women's ice hockey team. She made her debut for Team Canada in the 2010 Four Nations Cup. She was drafted 6th overall by the Brampton Thunder in the 2011 CWHL Draft. Birchard was born in Etobicoke, Ontario. Playing career Birchard was a 2007 graduate of Lincoln M. Alexander High School in Malton, Ontario. While at the school, Birchard lettered in ice hockey, soccer, basketball and badminton. In addition, she competed for the Toronto Jr. Aeros. While with the club, she won provincial titles in 2005 and 2006. The club was also playoff champions in 2004, 2006 and 2007. In 2007, she was the Jr. Aeros captain. Christina Kessler
Christina Kessler (born May 28, 1988) has competed for the Canadian National women's ice hockey team. Her debut with Team Canada was at the 2010 Four Nations Cup where she was part of the gold medal-winning squadron. She played for the Burlington Barracudas in the Canadian Women's Hockey League before being claimed by the Brampton Thunder in the dispersal section of the 2012 CWHL Draft. With the Toronto Furies, she was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 Clarkson Cup. Playing career Kessler participated in the PWHL for the Toronto Jr. Aeros. Delayne Brian
Delayne Brian (born July 24, 1990) is a Canadian women's ice hockey player with the Calgary Inferno of the CWHL. Brian helped the Inferno capture the 2016 Clarkson Cup championship, where she was recognized as Playoff MVP. Playing career NCAA For three seasons, Brian competed with the Wayne State Warriors women's ice hockey program. In October 2010, made 26 saves in a 3–0 victory over St. Cloud State to earn her fifth career shutout. The following day, she had 39 saves in a 1–0 loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Tara Watchorn
Tara Leigh-Anne Watchorn (born May 30, 1990) is a Canadian women's ice hockey player who has competed for the Canadian national women's ice hockey team. She made her debut for Team Canada in the 2010 Four Nations Cup and played for Canada most recently at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She chose to withdraw from playing in the 2018 Olympics, however a future comeback is still possible. Watchorn was born in Ajax, Ontario, but grew up in Newcastle, Ontario. Playing career Watchorn competed for the Durham West Jr. Lightning in Ontario. She won silver in the PWHL tournament in her junior year and bronze as a sophomore. Lauriane Rougeau
Lauriane Rougeau (born April 12, 1990) is a Canadian ice hockey player in her second stint with the CWHL's Les Canadiennes de Montreal. A former All-America selection for the Cornell Big Red women's ice hockey program, Rougeau was part of the Stars team that captured the inaugural Clarkson Cup in 2009. Competing in Ice hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics, she was part of Canada's gold medal triumph. Jocelyne Dawn Marie Larocque (born May 19, 1988) is a Canadian ice hockey player and current independent member of the PWHPA. She previously played with the Calgary Inferno and Markham Thunder of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), the Calgary Oval X-Treme and Manitoba Maple Leafs of the Western Women's Hockey League (WWHL), and the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Laura Michele Fortino (born January 30, 1991) is a Canadian ice hockey player for Markham Thunder. On October 3, 2011, she was named to the Team Canada roster that participated in the 2011 4 Nations Cup. Of note, she was the first overall selection in the 2014 CWHL Draft.
