2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment
The 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment is the field artillery battalion organic to the 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division. Originally organized in 1916, the battalion has seen combat service in World War I, World War II, Korea, and the Global War On Terror. Most recently deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. The Automatic Battalion has earned, 14 campaign streamers and at least 8 unit awards. Raymond Thomas Odierno (8 September 1954 – 8 October 2021) was an American military officer who served as a four-star general of the United States Army and as the 38th chief of staff of the Army. 1st Brigade, 7th Infantry Division
The 1st Brigade, 7th Infantry Division was an infantry brigade of the United States Army, and a part of the 7th Infantry Division. The brigade was based at Fort Ord, California for most of its history. After the Korean War, it was activated as a brigade in 1963, and was returned to the United States where it saw action in Operation Just Cause and Operation Golden Pheasant before being finally deactivated in 1995. The 7th ID remained in Korea near the DMZ from the truce in 1953 until 1971, participating in “The Second Korean War” from 1966 to 1969.
