2TM is an Australian commercial radio station based in Tamworth, New South Wales and is part of the Super Radio Network. The station operates from modern studios that are situated on Goonoo Goonoo Road in Hillvue, a suburb of Tamworth and is situated across the road from the Big Golden Guitar along with sister station, 92.9FM. About The station broadcasts on the 1287 AM band and has been operating in Tamworth since 1935. In 1940 the 2TM was one of just six stations in New South Wales to become independent following the disbandment of the Broadcast Network. In 1973 a panel was created by 2TM to recognise and award professional and amateur country artists. The Tamworth Country Music Festival is an annual Australian music festival held for 10 days from Friday to Sunday in mid to late January each year, sometimes including Australia Day, in Tamworth, New South Wales. The festival is the second biggest country music festival in the world, after the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Broadcast Operations Group is an Australian media company, operating radio stations across various centres across regional New South Wales and Queensland, Australia. Branded as the Super Radio Network, stations carry one of two formats – a news talk and classic hits format based at 2SM Sydney; and a hot adult contemporary format based at New FM Newcastle. John Laws
Richard John Sinclair Laws CBE (born 8 August 1935) is a Papua New Guinean-born Australian radio announcer. For 50 years, until 2007, he was the host of an Australian morning radio program combining music with interviews, opinion, live advertising readings and listener talkback. His distinctive voice earned him the nickname "the Golden Tonsils". Although officially retired between 2007–2011, he returned in February 2011 to host a morning program on 2SM and the Super Radio Network.
