The ceremony for the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards took place on 18 April 2010. Wang Po-chieh's original nomination for the Best New Performer was withdrawn after he was confirmed to be an actor in the 2008 Taiwan film '' Winds of September''. Lawrence Cheng
Lawrence Cheng Tan-shui (born 28 December 1954) is a Hong Kong film actor, director, screenwriter, producer, and master of ceremonies. He was a Hong Kong DJ and radio channel executive. Cheng became famous after he created the radio drama series ''The Yuppie Fantasia'' (小男人週記) in 1986 which he also starred in. In 1989, he starred in the film adaptation of the series which was directed by Gordon Chan and became a box office hit. Early life Cheng was born in Hong Kong on 27 November 1954. His ancestral hometown is huizhou ( 惠州市), Guangdong province. Having attended secondary school in St. Paul's College, he went to the Baptist College, the top broadcasting school in Hong Kong, and graduated in 1978. Alan Mak Siu-fai (; born 1 January 1965), is a Hong Kong writer, director, actor and producer. Early life In 1965, Mak was born in Hong Kong. Education In 1986, Mak studied at the School of Drama in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Upon graduation in 1990, he started his movie career. Career Mak made his directorial debut in 1997, with his first film being '' Nude Fear'', which was written and produced by Joe Ma. After that, Mak directed further films such as '' Rave Fever'', ''A War Named Desire'', ''Final Romance'' and ''Stolen Love'', which would be his first collaboration with writer Felix Chong. Wai Ka-Fai (born 21 September 1962) is a Hong Kong screenwriter, producer, film director, and former TV screenwriter and producer. Wai is best known for his frequent collaborations with Johnnie To, another former TV turned film director and producer.
