27th Lima Film Festival
The 27th Lima Film Festival, organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, took place from 10–18 August 2023 in Lima, Peru. The awards were announced on 18 August 2023, with ''Tótem'' winning the Trophy Spondylus. Background On June 27, 2023, the Lima Film Festival officially announced its 27th edition under the motto "#LetsBeProtagonists" ( es, #SeamosProtagonistas). The festival took place from August 10 to 18, 2023, featuring both in-person and virtual screenings. Organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and presented by the BBVA Foundation in Peru, the Ministry of Culture of Peru, the Gran Teatro Nacional del Perú, and in collaboration with PromPerú, the complete programming and ticket sales were available starting from July 25, 2023. The Green Wall
''The Green Wall'' ( es, La muralla verde) is a 1970 Peruvian drama film directed by Armando Robles Godoy. Robles Godoy also wrote the screenplay based on his short story by the same title. The film won the Golden Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival in 1970 and was selected as the Peruvian entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 42nd Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. After being released in the United States, Roger Ebert named it the 5th best film of 1972. Iván Fund
Iván Fund was born in San Cristóbal, Argentina in 1984. He grew up in Crespo, Entre Ríos, where he graduated from high school. In 2002, he moved to Buenos Aires and worked as a cinematographer. In 2005 he directed his first short film, Vals, which was honored with a special mention from the Jury at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival. In 2006 he directed the short films Sirenas and El Baile, and received, among other awards, a Georges Meliés Short Film Prize, awarded by Alliance Française. In 2007, he directed the short films Divergir and Un Punto Fijo, as well as the short feature Cicope, which he directed in collaboration with Patricio Toscano and which was a BAFICI Official Selection. Lila Avilés (born in 1982) is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, actress and producer. Life and career Born in Mexico City, Avilés studied scenic arts with Ximena Escalante and José Caballero, and film scriptwriting with Beatriz Novaro and Paula Marcovich. Amat Escalante (born 28 February 1979) is a Mexican film director, producer and screenwriter. He is most well known for directing the controversial Mexican crime thriller ''Heli'' for which he was awarded the best director prize award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and for directing the 2016 Mexican drama '' The Untamed'' for which he received the Silver Lion for best director at the 2016 Venice Film Festival. Óscar Catacora (18 August 1987 – 26 November 2021) was a Peruvian film director, screenwriter and cinematographer. Biography Catacora was born on 18 August 1987 in the town of Ácora, Department of Puno. In 2007 he directed and acted in the medium-length film ''El sendero del chulo''.
