26th Bangladesh National Film Awards
The 26th National Film Awards, presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema released in the year 2001. Bangladesh National Film Awards is a film award ceremony in Bangladesh established in 1975 by Government of Bangladesh. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in Dhaka. The ceremony took place at Osmany Memorial Hall, Dhaka and awards were distributed by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Additionally, Information Minister Tariqul Islam attended the function as the special guest at that evening. List of winners A 12-member jury board headed by former secretary A H Mofazzal Karim recommended a total of 21 artists to be awarded for 2001. No award was given in Best Actor in a Supporting Role category. Kanak Chapa
Kanak Chapa (; born 11 September 1969) is a Bangladeshi singer. She received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer three times, for her performance in the films ''Love Story'' (1995), '' Premer Taj Mahal'' (2001) and ''Ek Takar Bou'' (2008). She published her autobiography ''Sthobir Jajabor'' in 2011 and a poetry book ''Mukhomukhi Joddha'' in 2012. Abul Khair was a Bangladeshi television and film actor. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor four times for his roles in the films ''Dohon'' (1984), ''Rajlakshmi Srikanta'' (1987), ''Onno Jibon'' (1995) and ''Dukhai'' (1997). Anwar Hossain (photographer)
Anwar Hossain (6 October 1948 – 1 December 2018) was a Bangladeshi photographer and cinematographer. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Cinematography a record five times for the films Sundori (1979), Emiler Goenda Bahini (1980), Puraskar (1983), Anya Jibon (1995) and Lalsalu (2003). Early life and education Hossain was born in Old Dhaka in 1948. He completed his SSC from Armanitola Government High School and HSC from Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 1965 and 1967 respectively. He graduated in architecture from BUET and a diploma in cinematography from the Film and Television Institute of Pune, India. Career Hossain started his photography career in 1967.
