25th Public Security Protection Brigade
The 25th Public Security Protection Brigade named after Prince Askold ( uk, 25-та бригада охорони громадського порядку імені князя Аскольда) is a division within the Northern Operational-Territorial Command of the National Guard of Ukraine. Its headquarters is located in Kyiv. History In 1966, in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, the 1st Special Motorized Police Regiment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR was formed. On 2 January 1992 the 2nd regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine was founded, which became part of the . In 1995, the regiment was subordinated to the Internal Troops of Ukraine where it was renamed into the 10th special motorized regiment. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR (MVD; russian: Министерство внутренних дел СССР (МВД)) was the interior ministry of the Soviet Union from 1946 to 1991. The MVD was established as the successor to the NKVD during reform of the People's Commissariats into the Ministries of the Soviet Union in 1946. The MVD did not include agencies concerned with secret policing unlike the NKVD, with the function being assigned to the Ministry of State Security (MGB). Prince Askold
Askold and Dir (''Haskuldr'' or ''Hǫskuldr'' and ''Dyr'' or ''Djur'' in Old Norse; died in 882), mentioned in both the Primary Chronicle and the Nikon Chronicle, were the earliest known ''purportedly Norse'' rulers of Kiev. The Special Honor Guard Battalion ( uk, Спеціальний батальйон почесної варти) is a ceremonial honor guard of the National Guard of Ukraine.
