The 24th Golden Melody Awards () ceremony for popular music category was held on July 6, 2013. The SET network broadcast the show live from the Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan. The ceremony recognized the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, which runs from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012. Taipei Arena
The Taipei Arena () is a multi-purpose stadium located in Songshan, Taipei, Taiwan, and it is operated by the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC). Built in 2005, the large multi-purpose stadium can accommodate major international sport events such as ice skating, ice hockey, gymnastics, handball, basketball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, indoor soccer, boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo and wrestling. Building It was designed by Archasia, an architectural firm based in Taipei, and Populous, a Kansas City, Missouri, design and architectural firm specializing in sports venues. It is located at the site of the former Taipei Municipal Baseball Stadium (built in 1958, opened 1959, demolished 2000). The arena was opened on 1 December 2005. The main arena has an adjustable floor space: its minimum floor space is 60m × 30m, and can be extended to 80m × 40m. Xiao Yu (singer)
Sung Nien-yu (; born 22 November 1983), better known by his stage name Xiao Yu (), is a Taiwanese singer, songwriter, and record producer. Career Most of Xiao Yu's early career was spent behind the scenes, writing and producing music for numerous Mandarin singers. He released his debut album ''Classmate Xiao Yu That's Me'' in 2008 which garnered widespread acclaim. Yoga Lin
Yoga Lin (; born July 1, 1987) is a Taiwanese singer. He was the winner of One Million Star, Season 1, a reality TV singing competition in Taiwan during his study at National Dong Hwa University. During the competition, he once contemplated quitting due to the elimination of his good friend, Eddie Tsai (蔡政霖). However, show producers persuaded him to maintain his composure and regain his determination, attaining five rounds of perfect scores (20 & above) continuously after that – an unbeatable record up to now. After winning first place in Season One, he was signed by HIM International Music along with three fellow contestants, Judy Chou (周定緯), Peter Pan (潘裕文) and Stanly Hsu (許仁杰). Jam Hsiao
Jam Hsiao Ching-Teng (, born 30 March 1987) is a Taiwanese singer and actor. At the age of 17, while still in high school, he began working as a restaurant singer. In May 2007, Hsiao took part in the first season of China Television (CTV)'s star search show, ''One Million Star''. He signed a contract with Warner Music Taiwan in 2008 and released his debut album, ''Jam Hsiao (album), Jam Hsiao'', in the same year. Winnie Hsin
Winnie Hsin (; born 8 February 1962) is a Taiwanese singer. She is best known for her crystal clear soprano voice. Biography In 1976, Hsin was admitted to the Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School, and in 1979 she studied music in the Chinese Culture University in Taipei. After graduating, she became a music teacher in the Yamaha Music School in Taipei. She released her first album, ''Lonely Winter'', in 1986, and has since released a total of 16 albums, under the labels of Decca Records, Rock Records and Warner Music. In 1995, Hsin provided the voice of the titular character in the Mandarin dubbed version of the Walt Disney animated film ''Pocahontas''. Bobby Chen (; born 29 October 1958) is a Taiwanese singer and record producer. Career Chen was born in Xizhou, Changhua County in Taiwan. In elementary school, he was the only boy who took part in a singing competition and represented the entire school choir. When he was younger, he had wanted to be a painter. Ellen Joyce Loo Hoi Tung (; 27 March 1986 – 5 August 2018) was a Canadian-Hong Kong musician, singer-songwriter and record producer.
