23rd Daytime Emmy Awards
The 23rd Daytime Emmy Awards were held on May 22, 1996, on CBS to commemorate excellence in daytime programming from the previous year (1995). At this ceremony, Erika Slezak set a then record with five Emmy Awards for Lead Actress. She would beat her own record in 2005. The telecast aired two-hours. National Academy Of Television Arts And Sciences
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) is an American professional service organization founded in 1955 for "the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry". Headquartered in New York City, NATAS membership is national and the organization has local chapters around the country. It was also known as the National Television Academy until 2007. NATAS distributes several groups of Emmy Awards, including those for daytime, sports, and news and documentary programming. Erika Alma Hermina Slezak (; born August 5, 1946) is an American actress, best known for her role as Victoria "Viki" Lord on the American daytime soap opera ''One Life to Live'' from 1971 through the television finale in 2012 and again in the online revival in 2013. Background Keating was born in London to Roman Catholic parents who had emigrated from Ireland, Charles James Keating and Margaret (née Shevlin) Keating, Keating moved to the United States via Canada with his family as a teenager.
