Breakcore is a style and microgenre of electronic dance music that emerged from jungle, hardcore, and drum and bass in the mid-to-late 1990s. It is characterized by very complex and intricate breakbeats and a wide palette of sampling sources played at high tempos. Planet Mu is an eclectic English electronic music record label created and run by Mike Paradinas. The label started out as a subsidiary of Virgin Records then Paradinas set up the label independent of Virgin. After releasing intelligent dance music, the label moved to jungle and breakcore, and then grime and dubstep and later footwork. The label also releases the music of Paradinas under various aliases such as μ-Ziq, Kid Spatula and Tusken Raiders. It celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. Beginning When Mike Paradinas signed as a musician to Virgin Records in the mid-1990s, Paradinas was asked for suggestions for the new dance subsidiary and suggested Planet Mu as a play on Carl Craig's label Planet E. Cex is an American musical project run by Rjyan Claybrook Kidwell and started in 1998 at the age of 16. Although Cex and Kidwell are frequently used interchangeably, Cex occasionally expands to several people at sporadic points, such as particular tours or albums. In the past it has included Kidwell's musical associates, friends, touring partners, or high school bandmates. History The first Cex album, ''Cells'', was a compilation of tracks Kidwell had been working on for several years, and was released in 1998 by his own CD-R label, _underscore, while he was still at Dulaney High School in Timonium, Maryland. Being Ridden
''Being Ridden'' is an album by Cex. It is his second album to move away from a straight ahead electronic music sounds and indulge in a more hip-hop based music, complete with rapping by Cex. The album cover is a parody of David Bowie's album cover for his album '' "Heroes"''. The main difference between Being Ridden and BR Instrumentals, except for the duct tape covering Kidwell's mouth, is the track listing. Every track from Being Ridden is featured on BR Instrumentals except Stamina, Other Countries and Nevermind. These tracks only appear on Being Ridden and are replaced by My Hands Switched With Mannequin Hands, Bad Girls and M Ren Dvine. The three songs are the seventh, tenth and thirteenth tracks on both albums.
